Nick Stephens

I 100% put that loss on the Ginger. Our inept offense put up 7 points. Our stout-ish defense allowed no points. Ginger's 2 INTs led to the 13 points that gave Wyoming the win (1 INT returned to the 4 yard line, the other returned for a TD).

I blame the Hand Clapper for that miserable experience.

You cant blame Fulmer or Kiffin for the problems we have now. Those go squarely on the shoulders of the current HC. He had an entire recruiting class to address the issues.

In the end, the players play. Fulmer didn't move his arm in a forward motion and release a ball in the direction of a Wyoming defender multiple times, that was Stephens. Fulmer didn't go 3/9. Stephens did all of that, and single-handedly secured a victory for the Pokes.

I'm talking about two years ago. You should go to bed while you're ahead. Now you're blaming Dooley for our current situation. I'm speechless.

It's not worth the debate. I've been trying to purge that season from my memory. I'm getting nauseous.

Vols would have made a late season push for Atlanta this year if Stephens had been given a fair shake. JMO.

Hahaha. Ummm... Yeah. The two most memorable things I ever saw him do are in this order:

1. He was acting like a fool and almost fell while riding The T on campus.
2. Wyoming

Actually, I never saw the Wyoming game. I just saw the mushroom cloud in my rearview mirror when visiting family in Middle Tennessee. I believe I was getting on the ramp from 440 to 65 when the final whistle blew. That game was so pathetic that I remember exactly where I was when it ended.

Wyoming was cheering for Hambone. Wyoming is on him.

Crompton played most of that game, btw. Nick had a string of starts for UT, btw.

Yeah. Pick Nick only threw two absolutely fatal interceptions that led to Wyoming's only scores. One was run back for a TD and one was run back very close to being a TD. His stink is all over that game whether Crompton played or not. The guy is not an SEC quarterback.

How long, exactly, did he have to put together a miraculous recruiting class that could solve all our depth problems?

Wait just a minute!!
I believe that we picked up Stevens from Flower Mound Texas because he had 4 Stars.

I thought that meant something.

No fan of the Ginger or Crompton but to be fair I thought Stevens was as good as Crompton - (not saying a whole lot) and on one of his interceptions against Wyoming his receiver cut off his route which caused the interception. The pass was thrown where it was supposed to be thrown. Having said that I wish him well and hope he and anybody else that has left here has a good year. Anyone know what year in school the kid is that left here and is starting at DT for Texas Tech??

Fulmer, Kiffin, and the San Diego Chargers would disagree. One thing you will never see is Nick Stephens in a team-issued NFL uniform that he didn't get off of eBay. The 2008 offense was so bad that it was hard to differentiate who was bad because they weren't any good and who was bad because our entire offense was sputtering with little help from the coaches to remedy the situation.

Arian Foster is another good example from that year. He is now an NFL starter who had an awful 2008. Nick Stephens was just bad. Why else would he perform that badly and then get beaten out by everyone besides BJ Coleman? He was awful. I do wish him luck at his new school because he is a former Vol, but he just wasn't starter material at this level. You can add Dooley to the consensus on that.

Yeah, shame on Dooley for not being able to put together a top 5 class with 2 weeks on the job before signing day.

I've read some ignorant stuff on this board, but your posts are on a whole new level of ignorance.
