What does beating Duke or Michigan do for us next year. If we missed the playoffs then Ole Miss or Bama would have been in.This is BS. A win is always better than a loss. If you would like to offer proof that Arky fans won’t care that they won their bowl game, then let’s see it. Think about it. You make the playoffs and then get embarrassed in the first round. Are most people gonna remember your good season? Or are they gonna remember you getting your teeth kicked in and thinking you didn’t belong in the playoffs? You end the season in a sour note of defeat.
Contrast that with a bowl game. Say you go 9-3 and make a good bowl game, against a good opponent and dominate. Are the fans gonna be happy about a dominating win? How about the coaches? Players? Boosters? Yeah I am sure all those people would trade getting humiliated in the playoffs just to say well at least we made it. With a dominating bowl win you finish the year on a big time high note with confidence and excitement going into the next season.
10-3 with a dominating bowl win is vastly better than 10-3 with a humiliating playoff loss.
Many QBs have been better than Nico as freshmen. Whether he stays or goes, he isn’t that good. All you cats downing Nico need to ask yourselves how many freshman QBs have had seasons like he did. Not just at TN….. anywhere …. Then ask yourselves which of the Vols receivers will be drafted….. then ask yourselves how many Olinemen will be…… then STFU
I'm not sure where you are getting your information but Peyton was 244/380(64.2%) for 2954 yds with 22 TDs and 4 INTs his Sophomore season. Nico was 213/334(63.8%) for 2616 yds with 19 TDs and 5 INTs this season. While Peyton had the better season, it wasn't a huge discrepancy and Peyton had started 8 games his Freshman season.Actually, Nico is a sophomore academically and Peyton threw 33 TDs his true 2nd year and was 5th in Heisman. Nico is on his 2nd year has played in 18 games; I think he has a high ceiling
but in Boths 2nd year Peyton was twice the QB Nico is. Its Nicos 2nd year and if he's as good as we hope he will be gone to NFL after next year.
They just started the letting trues play 4 & bowl recently and keep their RS so trying to compare is not =
While Arch Manning got over $3m this year to ride the bench at Texas behind a QB who put up somewhat similar numbers against a similar schedule to Nico as a third year starter.I love how a guy who is to get $8m for 4 years of being here is supposed to put out $8m results in his first year here.
The expectations here by some are amazing.
Never thought of this. Yeah Squirrel definitely wasn't very productive this season. And everytime he caught a ball he was hurt. Nico may have been just responding. I never thought Nico was leaving. He's our guy.Squirrel White posted the first one as possibly a dig at Nico for not getting him the ball more. After Squirrel entered the portal, Nico posted the second picture as a dig to Squirrel not being there to throw to is my assumption.
We need to recognize defenses play every QB different, just like every team is different. Most defenses elected to drop 6-7 into coverage vs Tennessee & take their chances controlling the run game with 4 to 5 in the box. Tennessee didn’t lead the SEC in rushing cause the OL was full of roadgraders & the running backs were beasts (Sampson was outstanding). They led it because defenses were willing to cut off big passing plays & force Vols into a running situation. Best defenses (Ga & OSU) controlled both pass & run using only 5 men up front. Vandy chose to stop the run by trying the OU defense (bringing blitzers in late) & we saw what happened there. Many QBs have been better than Nico as freshmen. Whether he stays or goes, he isn’t that good.
How is that pop-tart bowl working out for Miami currently......This is BS. A win is always better than a loss. So, you're saying Nico has surpassed Peyton 2nd season Nico did come in and have Spring practice and this was 3rd post season game he practiced for but if hesI'm not sure where you are getting your information but Peyton was 244/380(64.2%) for 2954 yds with 22 TDs and 4 INTs his Sophomore season. Nothing revisionist about it, Peyton won it over Brandon Stewart they went back and forth on playing time several games that year after Colquitt got hurt 1st game vs UCLA and Todd Helton played one game and quit to concentrate on baseball. Peyton finally won out, a bunch on here wanted Stewart because he was more mobile and could run better Stewart transferred to A&M and led them to the B-12 conference championship his Sr. year beating K State and knocking them out of the Natty. Him & Stewart were in a heated battle up to mid season Stewart was a top-notch college QB.Dang. That’s some revisionist history. Peyton didn’t win it. He played because starter Jerry Colquitt tore his ACL on the first series of the season and backup Todd Helton was injured a few games later and decided to focuse solely on baseball after that. The plan for Peyton was to redshirt him his freshman year. The only person he beat out as a freshman was fellow freshman Brandon Stewart who actually played better than Peyton when he actually got game reps.
You act like Nico got a full seasons worth of reps because he redshirted. Sorry to be a dick but grief some of you are beyond clueless.
