This this this. Just posted this over in the football forum. How sad is it that the coach of Louisville, a BIG EAST SCHOOL, is (apparently) turning us down? And that he was merely using us to get a pay raise? US, TENNESSEE, BEING USED AND TURNED DOWN BY A BIG EAST COACH.

Nobody wants to come here. It's a fact. Nobody wants to freaking come here. I'm preparing for a decade of irrelevance. Just bracing for the worst. Not a NegaVol, just a fan looking for some hope and finding nothing.
Thats it. Nobody wants this job. It has all the potential in the world. As much upside as any in the country. But, its not for the faint of heart.
Just daydreaming, but can yall even imagine the buzz that hiring john freakin gruden would have created? My God that would have been the biggest hire in college football history. And his staff.......shut yo mouth. #1 recruiting class next year without question.

You're probably right. I know I would feel better and I'm going to support whoever it is and get excited no matter what until I'm given a reason to not be excited.

Without some of those unbelievably bad calls that you mentioned, we would have several more wins in the past couple of years. A coach that is simply not a moron could make a huge difference as long as we can bring enough talent to compete.
You know your coach is overmatched when you consistently get worse in the 2nd half and lose just about every close game.

You know, through all the BS we have been through the last 5 years, and beyond Sh*** coaches....The number one person that started this "mediocre train" down the track was MIKE frickin HAMILTON!!! It all starts with a truly competent AD. We failed with Hammy!!!! Now we are reaping the seeds that he sowed!!

Even worse than Dooley?

Putting those 2 together is probably the worst back to back coaching choices in the history of sport.

Well, the Kiffin hire was worse because you could have had Brian Kelly. The die was already cast when Lame left like a thief in the night. That search was destined to be a clusteryouknowwhat. It didn't help that Hambone was leading the search.

Or if Tennessee had hired Brian Kelly.

My God. Hiring Kiffin has to be the biggest screw up in program history.
I personally thot the kiffins were gonna last us for yrs to come. They were nfl guys which is what recruits love. Monte was considered defensive mastermind - right up our alley. But, unfortunately that turned out to be an absolute cluster-f***. Dont think anybody could have predicted they would up-n-run like that but, alas, they did and we officially entered the great depression.

Ugh tell me about it. I swear I let myself get so worked up about it... This man was going to bring a legitimate NFL staff to Tennessee. We would've had a former NFL head coach (Raheem Morris) as our defensive coordinator. I bet we'd have to turn down 4-star recruits... We would have been the talk of the nation! I mean JEEZ!! I daydream about it all the time, too. Then I remember it's not happening and I get all frustrated. Haha.

This. Complain about Kiffin and Dooley all you want; there is one man who is a common denominator here, one man who was there through it all. Mike Hamilton. The man has basically single-handedly destroyed our football program, to the point that it has to be built from the ground up. Thanks Mike, and good riddance.

And then consistently get worse each game as well. Simpy amazing!!!
I dont think most folks on these forums understand, but this wont be over quickly - barring some divine intervention that we dont know about. The SEC has ran away from us. Not to mention oregon, nd, okla, and even usc when it comes to recruiting.

Well fellers I'll be heading to the domicile for a much needed slumber.

But first I'm going to pray to little baby Jesus that we get a good coach soon.

Night all.

Alright yall...serious question here. say Strong is out per reports. Do you guys think we could possibly have a snowball's chance in Hades to be successful with Gundy or Fedora? If it comes down to them.

So I had eye surgery on 11/30 Friday, the day that we were "supposed" to get Gruden

I was all excited until my surgery at 8am....couldn't see for 4 days...so I basically had no update

wtf happened? I though all the sources said everything was agreed upon and even Gruden lowered his asking price twice or something

fast forward 3 days later when I could actually open my eyes....I come here and everyone is depressed

I know this is a football forum but look at what Hamilton did to baseball too with his Raleigh hire. He just got lucky with Bruce Pearl. And don't forget who gave Fulmer a raise then had to fire him. Has there been a worse AD at TN? If so, I would like to know the name.

Honestly, i think we havent heard anything because gundy hasnt officially said no yet. It would appear he is actually our top choice. But, is there really a nickels difference in any of the three....gundy, strong or fedora? I really dont care. Just wanna stop watching the same damn espn show over and over everyday with absolutely no word on our coaching search.

Its nothing short of amazing how little actual media info there has been. Thats either a real tight ship, or a real boring story with nothing much to report. I feel pretty sure we will have a coach today.

Nobody knew Bielema was linked to Arkansas. Nobody had heard the name, and people thought he was secure at Wisconsin for basically the rest of his career. Nobody knew the two had even talked. It was a shocking hire.

THIS is my last hope for Tennessee football. That we can pull off a similar hire, a hire no one saw coming. I can't even guess. I can't even think of any names. But Tennessee has its Bielema out there somewhere. I just hope we can make the hire.

For the record, I'd love Gundy. I will say that.
