Nike Adidas and Under Armour Tell Lavar Ball To Pound Sand

I actually agree with D4H on that aspect of it. It's just a weird dynamic when like 90% of the people on campus who look like you are housekeepers or cafeteria people, and like 99% of every other race are students. Durham is a majority black city, though, so I'm not saying it's anyone's fault, or that they should be given better jobs, or anything like that - but it is uncomfortable at times. Jimmy Kelly's Steakhouse in Nashville, at least when I went there, had a similar vibe.

At the same time, this is a totally separate issue from dorm names to me.

It's a voluntary job. If they hired more white people so it is 50/50, wouldn't that be an issue to the Durham community? So damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I said this, but I'm not making a judgment on the people making the hires, just commenting on the end result

Nobody should feel stigmatized for going to work and doing their job. It's a contract between the employee and employer.

well gee I have seen white servers waiting on black people at quite a few restaurants and other alot of other service industry jobs (grocery stores - hospitals and so on) works both ways dude

Stay on target. He's a fraud, remember? He's probably a white dude.

I personally wouldn't want the baggage that his dad brings but Magic has said on record that Lonzo reminds him of himself

I think it would be hilarious if Lonzo wound up in a small market like Sacramento or Indianapolis where his dad wouldn't have quite the microphone that he would want.

Just as the latest report could be a smokescreen, Magic's comments about him you're saying are likely the same.

I don't think Ball is as good as advertised personally

He's not a once in a generation talent. If I owned a team and knew I would have to put up with hot garbage like his dad, I'd probably pass on him too.

He may not be a once in a generation talent...time will tell...but he's easily one of the top 5 players in this upcoming draft.

I think Josh Jackson is the 2nd best prospect in this draft behind Fultz. imo he projects to be better than Jimmy Butler

Easily. I haven't seen Fultz play so can't comment on him but I'd take Lonzo over everyone else.

The better the talent he plays with, the more effective he is.

Why play around with a smoke screen? They have the 2nd pick. I don't see what advantage they could gain. Boston isn't going to draft him out of spite and waste a #1 pick.

JMO but I think they want Lavar to back off and let the kid play -- he is a tired act and a distraction

It makes no sense in this particular case.

If someone wants a Tatum or a Jackson and think there is a legitimate chance LA takes one, they could try and move up and offer assets to get their guy.

Keeping all avenues open is exactly what a good GM should go.

LA wouldn't trade that pick. It would have to be one hell of a deal for LA to even consider it. If anything, that strengthens my point more. If conventional wisdom and LA management seems to be leaning towards picking Ball at #2, then anybody that would want to trade up knows that have to bring a good deal. If on the other hand the Lakers play like they are soft on the idea of selecting Ball, then a team that wants to trade up may not feel compelled to put together a blockbuster package.

My point is, the Lakers are in a position where they don't need to be engaging in misdirection or misinformation. It would only work to their detriment. Ball is theirs for the taking without much effort or shenanigans.
