Nike Adidas and Under Armour Tell Lavar Ball To Pound Sand

LA wouldn't trade that pick. It would have to be one hell of a deal for LA to even consider it. If anything, that strengthens my point more. If conventional wisdom and LA management seems to be leaning towards picking Ball at #2, then anybody that would want to trade up knows that have to bring a good deal. If on the other hand the Lakers play like they are soft on the idea of selecting Ball, then a team that wants to trade up may not feel compelled to put together a blockbuster package.

My point is, the Lakers are in a position where they don't need to be engaging in misdirection or misinformation. It would only work to their detriment. Ball is theirs for the taking without much effort or shenanigans.

They have the right to refuse a trade offer. By throwing shade, they are ensuring teams know the door is open fur trade. You're way over analyzing something very simple and very common.

I agree with that. But is he worth putting up with Lavar?

Lavar has two other sons to worry about.

I don't think he'll be as big a distraction for whoever drafts Lonzo, as opposed to the drama he can potentially create for UCLA (middle son is the least talented of the three kids) or Chino Hills (greater access and influence).

If the Lakers are going to pick Ball, then they probably need to deal D-Russ. If the Lakers can fool other teams into thinking they aren't completely sold on Ball, then they will seem less desperate at the negotiating table for D-Russ and thus can get more out of him.

Just my 2 cents.

To the contrary, I'm not analyzing it other than just saying that it would be unnecessary posturing by the Lakers, regardless if it is common practice or not.

Huffs post above yours spells out one very plausible scenario for why they did it

Man that D4H crap took off like a 4th of July rocket. Zip, BOOM, and then over.

And I think D4H needs counseling for ptsd or something.. from being exposed to all those abused service industry workers and all..

He's just happy his distraction seemed to work.

Did you know the iconic goth artichtecture at Duke's West campus was designed by a black man? A black man who wasn't even allowed to visit the campus and see his work because of Jim Crow segregation?

I remember something like that more than I remember the name Card Gym.

They cared enough to not let him on campus once but didn't care enough to let him design buildings that will be there for forever as a matter of public record that it was a black man who did the design? and this wasn't a case of them not knowing who he was, he was the go-to architect on the east coast for this stuff.

lets also ignore that he designed dozens (admittedly not sure of the number) of buildings across many campuses and private institutions that he never visited. back then it was pretty rare for architects to go on site, travel was too much of a pain, and frankly with these large campus designs there was no point.

Not a lot of dunkers, no....but basketball is huge in Mormon culture. There are some pretty good ballers in Utah. I remember playing with one guy in particular who had a scholly to Alabama in hoops but walked away after his mission. And of course, we'd play with football players and those dudes could mash. Dennis Pitta, for one.

I was just joking, I'm sure a lot of those guys could play. I remember playing against some of our football guys in intramurals and at the trecs. Jabari Greer was really good, Cory Anderson put his knee into my thigh once and I could barely walk for 2 weeks. That's the most pain I've ever experienced playing sports. That was a big dude who could play.

I'm thinking that once Ball is signed by the Lakers, he or the Lakers will tell his dad to **** off. And it will be glorious.

Lakers might not want him. Per twitter

Classic draft misinformation.

Don't fall for it.

Magic is making this decision and he's already on the record saying he sees himself in Lonzo.

Lonzo Ball and Jayson Tatum have a star quality about them.

They should be the best players from this class.

Tatum is similar to Melo size wise and offensively, but a good defender. He was playing as good of bball as anyone in the country last March. That's not a homer take either, that's a fact.
