NLDS: Braves vs. Giants

It's hard for me to get on Gonzalez for two errors where he was on the ground going to his backhand side both times. The first one should have been a hit IMO and the second one he actually threw the guy out.

Agreed. I thought the first one was a hit and, while Gonzalez made a bad throw on the second one, I sure didn't see any daylight between Infante's toe and the bag.

2 outs and the season riding on Melky. Forgive me for not being optimistic.

did bobby get anything like a standing ovation after the final out?

I hope the fans did something for him, he's been alot to the franchise

Fans chanted "Bobby! Bobby!" and he came back out and tipped his cap. The Giants paused their celebrating long enough to give him a hand.

He has 2 hits tonight . . . but you're right, he hasn't done much when it mattered.

It looked to me like Heyward hit the wall about three or four weeks ago. His bat speed has been noticeably down lately. I assume it's just that he's a 20 year old finishing up a long grinding season and not anything to worry about.

This hurts.

It's disappointing, but it's not exactly like you couldn't see it coming when Chipper got hurt and Prado got hurt and they had to start bringing up pitchers to make their first ML starts ever in the middle of the pennant race. There's not enough luck in the world to have made that patchwork roster win the title this year.

I'm sure we all could see it coming. I just find it particularly disappointing as it's the end of the only Braves era I've known. My first memories of baseball are finally being able to hit the ball instead of the tee, and "The Slide," both occurring in the same year.

Sorry to see the braves lose this series. They were so hammered with injuries this year that it was a miracle (Bobby) that they got this far. They came a couple of calls and some unforced errors by Conrad of still being in the series. Bobby was one of the best managers ever in the game and it's sad to see him finally go.

I didn't get to catch any of the game until the end of the 7th so I missed his 2 hits. Striking out in exactly 50% of your playoff ABs isn't going to cut it though.

I sort of feel sorry for any Braves fan who missed out on Pascual Perez and Rick Mahler and Bruce Benedict and Rafael Ramirez and all those guys. It's like being a Bulls fan who's too young to remember the Jordan era, only the exact opposite.

I agree. It's those memories that make me appreciate being able to watch winning baseball that much more.

Hey, how'd Joey Votto do in the playoffs? Guy's an MVP candidate in the prime of his career, he must have ripped it up, right?

It was easy to see coming, but it is particularly frustrating because Atlanta pitched well enough to win, and probably hit well enough to win. They pissed away a chance to overachieve by matching a playoff record for errors in a series.

It feels a lot like having 13....ah....nevermind.
