No Championship for UCONN

Only to people with the deepest of orange colored glasses. It's not an either or proposition. Acknowledging Geno's accomplishments does not mean you are downgrading or disregarding Pat. Pat will always have her place no matter what Geno does, but to not acknowledge his place is a false narrative.

He's a great coach no doubt but if Pat had not got sick he would not have made all his accomplishments the past 5 years!

I'm a 1974 graduate of UT and a long time fan of women's basketball, but if you want to see how to conduct yourself, emblematic of a great coach watch the post game press conference.

Surely you jest !!!!
That sore loser never ONCE said congrats to miss state !!!! He threw his players under the bus! Poor holly Rowe in her interview finally just has to say "of course I'm sure you think Vic shaeffer did a great job...." !!
Seriously???

I want the vols back, but women's bball is terrible. For the announcers to say it's the biggest upset of all time in the final four is ridiculous , it was a two versus one seed. Women's bball is the same as it has been since the 80s. One team dominates and maybe two others have a shot.

I don't know what you were watching, but he praised Schaeffer, Morgan and said repeatedly that MSU was the better team, took them out of their comfort zone and deserved to win. He also refused to take the bait to throw Saniya under the bus.

He's an arrogant prick for sure, and the sight of his smirk as Morgan hit the game winner is the highlight of the season thus far, but he handled himself with utmost class after last night's loss.

Miss state has zero high school all Americans on their team and will be competing for national championship. Holly has at least 4 every year & cant get past the elite 8. Coaching is important people.

How much money does Vic Schaeffer want to make. I expect he could get way up there over what he is making at Miss St if he cared about money. His game plan was awesome he is an awesome coach.

It's the biggest upset because:
1. Connecticut has looked like a machine the 2nd half of the season. They won their Elite 8 game by 38, and had a "disappointing" Sweet 16 showing where they were up by 20 most of the 2nd half and won by 15.

2. Connecticut was undefeated and had won 4 straight championships and 111 straight games. It is a new season and this crew "only" won 36 in a row, but nobody thought Mississippi State had a shot. I sure didn't. They were a 22 point underdog.

3. Different rosters, but they lost to Connecticut by 60 last year and were able to pull off the upset this time a year later. The fact that they came out with such poise and confidence after getting royally throttled against the Huskies last March is astounding. I haven't seen a player/team bring that swagger and poise against the Huskies since Skylar Diggins and her ND team.

4. This roster has zero McDonald's All Americans. Connecticut' s roster is littered with them. Connecticut had 3 Of the 5 ESPN All Americans. Talent wise, MSU had no business staying in this game.

5. No one expected Shaffer would outcoach Geno. Geno has won 10 titles and 6 of the last 8. His teams had won 156 of their last 157 games. No one thought Shaffer in his first Final Four would get the best of Geno.

Watching the game the huge surprise was why at the end UConn tries to take a shot so early. This was a Holly play as UConn should have waited until five seconds or less to take that shot.

I never would have picked MSU over UConn....

That's why they play the games, and we watch.

Only one coach with class in final four! TV of Stanford.

I think "class" is the most misused word in sports..... I think most coaches have class and they try and ensure their programs have class....

I looked up "class" in Websters Dictionary and it means "high quality" .... which I think could be used to describe Dawn, Geno and Vic.

Sometimes the word stretches to character issues.... and those we all have.... we are partisan to our schools, of course, but for every anti thing Muffet and Tara do ..... I am sure they do equal things that are good, or probably even better.

So Pleased that UConn got beat. Nurse is a dirty player - that pick on William should have been a tech foul. That guy ref is something else. How the heck did he even make the Final four.

Totally agree - that was ridiculous and and I could not believe they didn't give Nurse a tech for that!

I can see why Chong thought it was an easy 2. There was a lot of open hardwood with not a maroon jersey in sight. Collier and Gabby had 4 fouls, so maybe she thought it was better to get two guaranteed points and rely on defense to make MSU earn 2nd OT. She wasn't figuring on Morgan cutting off her path so quickly.

It was a great defensive stop by Morgan, and would have been a great play by Saniya if she made the shot.

I get that chief. It's a two versus one seed. How is that the biggest upset. My point, not really much of a sport when one team dominates like that. You completely ignored my point and when on some damn tangent justifying another argument I never made. If a two beat a one in men's, it would be another game. But in women's it's the biggest upset of all time.
