I am sad for our university. Am I the only person around here who thinks we might be one of the most crooked athletic departments in the nation.

Really? Who would have thought?:dance2:

Really? Celebrating? I'm a huge Vol fan, but I also work in downtown Knoxville. I don't want anyone carrying around unregistered handguns and I don't want them to get a break just because they are getting a free ride to a great school. We have to be better than this. Its just sports, its not worth looking the other way. These guys should go. I don't care about their story, I'm tired of cheering for stupid kids.

Oh, sorry. Let me try again -- darn, I was hoping they would all be facing felony charges and get kicked off the team....too bad they didn't do something worse.

Better?

Charging them accurately doesn't equal looking the other way.

If we dismissed all the stupid kids, we wouldn't be able to field a team in BB or football. We arent' talking about the debating team here.

God bless a voice of reason. Finally. Some of our fans would look the other way if they shot their own families. I havea good friend who was killed in a drinking and driving accident. I don't think it is a bit funny, and nor will I celebrate, or welcome them back. They are reckless, unappreciative, disrespectful, immature punk kids in my book. You all can celebrate them coming back if you want to, but I will go to no more games, and watch no more UT basketball unless they are gone.

I don't see anything wrong with carrying a gun hell i do! I do have a permit for it tho. As long as they wasn't the one's with the drug's I wan't em at UT. Def. Smith he's a big part of our program he needs to stay away from the Drugs and if he dont he's a DUMB ASS and need's to be of the team other than that GO VOLS!

they cant prove that the gun was left from a previous renter seeing as its a rental car. If they dont have enough to convict then police just keep charges they can 100% Prove. no favoritism folks.

I'm pretty certain that there would be no problem here if these guys had a permit to carry. I might be wrong but I'm guessing they didn't and it wouldn't matter if drugs were involved. I assume that there are laws against that just like alcohol and guns.

These guys need to be gone if these reports are accurate regardless of what it does to the team. We will be fine without them.

I like how everyone jumps to the conclusion that somehow they got reduced charges because they were athletes. I don't condone legal weapons or drugs but let the justice system work before we throw the boys out or accuse the cops of cheating. Sometimes being high profile athlete hurts you and something a non athlete would have gotten a ticket for an athlete gets much more. Ask plexico buress.

Because you are dealing with Knoxville PD. They will let any player for UT off the hook. If you or I were riding around smoking weed, drinking, carrying an illegal firearm, we would be getting a 2-5 year prison sentence. That you can bet your ass on.

My point wasn't that we cut anyone that falls below your IQ, which is obviously high. Only that we cut people too stupid to drive around our city with illegally acquired handguns the day after their biggest win of the season. Its apparent from their play all season they would rather be smoking weed than doing anything relevant in the tournament this year anyway, so we are better off without them. I'm just tired of watching people with great talent act like morons.

Why are we not fans if we expect our players to follow the same rules we have to follow?

Mattlock, I more than agree. These 4 need to go. Ethical standards at UT are at a all time low in our sport programs. Not to say our current fan base understands ethical standards or integrity. On Volnation, criminal behavior seems acceptable by most, if you play ball for UT....

What a shocker.

I would've kicked them all off the team. Something has got to be done about our image because it doesn't look good currently on the national level.
