Not one cogent argument against allowing girls into the scouts in this thread. Just more of the chicken little the sky is falling garbage.

There isn't an argument to be made for not integrating, what could possibly go wrong with an integrated teenage sleepover?

Obedient and Thrifty.

Based on my marriage.

Bravo. I am impressed.

I also quit at life, never made eagle. My favorite cousin did make it.

Girls should not be in boy scouts. They will wussify scouts, rtight on course with the emasculation of America

Oh it will happen. There are plenty of non nuclear non binary non gender conforming anti patriarchy left wing lunatics who will force their male born but non male identifying unitransgender warrior princess into girl scouts because the babies first words were "IM NOT A DUDE!" and by 3 years knew that not only were they hextatripletgayese that they were going to also be a space lawyer when they grow up after being the first trans heisman winning first round drafted instant HOF triple superbowl MVP punter.

Only D4H can make that call

No one has ever argued against letting girls into the scouts. There's this thing called girl scouts. They stand in front of Kroger and sell these really delicious cookies.

What about girl scouts? Are they still a thing?

In my daughter's time, mid to late 90s, Girl "scouts" didn't do 1/4 what her big brother did in boy scouts. She was all excited when she joined Brownies but got quickly discouraged at the "goofy" stuff they did compared to her brother learning how to sharpen knives & hatchets for his Totin Chip, going camping, shooting guns, canoes, row, & sail boats, rappelling, ...

Girl Scouts didn't have a chance.

Ruined?

Honestly, people who are on the front lines of the Scouting movement aren't concerned at all with this.

People who aren't involved have no idea how little this will impact most charters.

All change isn't bad.

Is that a thing?

Except that's not what's happening.

This is the low information headline-induced outrage I alluded to earlier.

Sounds like your daughter would have thrived in Scout Troop as many would have and will.

Since you quit at Life, I take it you never joined a Boy Scout Venture group.
Coed scouting for kids 13 or 14 and up doing specific interests since 1969.

Little over the top...

Why?

He said his daughter was looking forward doing the things her brother did.

Many girls are into that stuff, why marginalize them as only wanting to play with Barbies and wear tiaras?

"Boy" Scouting won't be for all girls for many it will be a great way to learn values, give back to their community and develop skills. Scouting ultimately is fun with a purpose.

It's bizarre, (perhaps it shouldn't be)to see a group of people who are usually yapping about the moral decay of our society poo-poo on half of our population having an opportunity to learn what it means to be a good citizen.

The BSA policies over the past five years have had a huge impact on charters. Perhaps this latest "change" won't affect current charters, but overall, that damage was done previously when many churches backed out en mass.

Overall, it's a shadow of what it was 20 years ago. Some of that has to do with the fact it's just passed out of "favor" or popularity with people. But the organization is not what it once was in terms of charters and sponsorship.

I was in when it changed. We went from merit badges to those stupid little things you got for your belt. It was for "city" scouts who couldn't get out to camp. That was the first step in the destruction of Baden Powell's dream. I used to donate yearly to them, haven't in a long time. Bought my last GS cookies too. If folks think that liberalism didn't destroy the BSA, then they are the reason we are at this point. This isn't progression in any shape form or fashion.

it's a shame. it's not a surprise. Gates was the president for a couple of years and I truly believe he's a closet homosexual. the guy who's the president now is a very big lib, so it's not a surprise. I'm sure the big donors also demanded that we continue to feminize men or else they'll cut funding. I'm glad my son is no longer apart of the boy scouts.

Big Gay Al finally made president of QSA?

You have no idea what you're talking about. Feminize men? LOL, are you high?

Most of you would be better served to take your cues from people affiliated with the organization than making low information reactionary comments like this.

That week of the month for Septic again I see. You need to do something about those hormone rages there boss.

I was actually speaking to your "many will" remark.

I don't think anyone will argue the lessons learned in Scouting wouldn't be beneficial or those girls interested in outdoor activities would "have a place" to be. But I don't think it's going to attract the numbers like you believe it will. Temporary bump, maybe, but certainly not enough to stave off the reduced numbers overall.

My point, as has been my constant Northern Star, is Scouting across the board is dying as an organization. You can give that whole million kids figure, but how many make it past a year or two? I'd dare say many of that number joined at the parents behest out of tradition and just don't stick with it. How many adult leaders in your Troop, District and Council are generational and brought their kids along because that's what their parents did?

I have no problems with Scouting opening up a subdivision to girls. It's their organization, their rules. I just don't see it as being helpful for the overall numbers.

Liberalism will destroy about half of what scouting was about. It already has hurt it. I only made it to "Life". I have worked with Eagles that have said they will stop contributing to the scouts because of the dilution of values they have seen. I know you don't agree and frankly I don't care, but it is a fact that the values have been watered down. Just like the military accommodating weaker women, obese soldiers etc etc etc....

I made it to Star and had all the merit badges but a couple for Life and Eagle. Was more interested in camping and the woods than advancement.

I discouraged my kids from joining. They didnt.

Then don't you think that's a girl scout problem and not a boy scout problem?
