Didnt that get lifted?
Why do Mormons not like the Boy Scouts anymore?
I don't think they dislike scouts. I think they decided that a global church needs a global solution for their youth organization. Members of the church in Costa Rica aren't doing boy scouts...it's an American thing...they just make up their own program for young men. If you know anything about the Mormon church, you know that they are incredibly orderly. They're just making things more globally uniform, which is a value they exude.
The Scouting Movement isn't exclusive to the U.S. at all.
There are nearly 40M Scouts across 170 different organizations. The BSA is simply the flavor of the U.S. - they all follow similar guidelines (oath, laws etc...) all but a few admit girls too.

Did they(Mormons) have to, *or were really encouraged* to do scouts?
What i know about Mormons is that theyre twins, fast, set Washington State high school records and I was with one but liked the other one more.
Really encouraged would probably be the right way to say it, but I don't think there is any sense of pressure to do it.
I would guess that the replacement program would come with more expectations, much like the youth girls program.
Inclusive my ass.I would say the main motivation was more innocent and smarter than that, though I think the gay leader thing was a catalyst for thinking of a smarter solution for the church.
The Mormon church is a global church with more members outside the US than within it. The BSA is a national organization and is not an adequate youth program for a global church that is trying to be more inclusive.

You were obviously LDS at some point. Otherwise you wouldn't have 'bitter' feelings about them. The rest of us don't care all that much. I lived in SLC (Heber actually) for 5 years. I watched Gordon Hinkley preempt the TV show Twin Peaks on KSL because it portrayed the church in a bad light. I have been in libraries there and looked for copies of any book critical of the church only to see them 'checked out' months/years earlier. You say they are inclusive. That statement is as FOS as it comes. Want to join Scouts? Guess where the troop meetings are held? The stakehouse. They want you to toe the line. They want 10% or will kick you out... or at least will not welcome you into the happy handshake club where you pay significantly less than any other 'gentile'. They 'donate' land to build schools. Schools right next to their stakehouses. Schools that don't have multipurpose rooms or auditoriums so that they can take all the kids right over to the nice big one at the stakehouse next door. Oh. Not LDS? Sorry, you're not 'welcome'.I'm an agnostic who has somewhat bitter feelings towards the Mormon church. You have no idea what you're talking about.

I'll say it again.
Inclusive my ass.
Oh, OK. sorry. I'm not really interested in arguing with you today anyway. You win. And?
You're mad that the church bought TV time to give their point of view?
No, they OWN the station, therefore censoring anything that is broadcast that they do not believe in.. But I guess THAT kind of censorship is OK
Yeah, this kind of **** is ridiculous.
I didn't say that. I said they are "trying to be more" inclusive. Maybe read everything twice before you freak out.
Semantics
There are unaffiliated scout troops, but it's the nature of the beast in Utah. There is nothing nefarious about this. It's just demographics.
What church doesn't?
Fair point
Why even say the first part when it's 100% false? I'm starting to doubt your "the rest of us don't care" statement.
Well OK then. stick to that. I know what I saw out there.
No idea what you're talking about. This must be some old man ****, long before my time. But in what way were you not welcome to go to the stakehouse? They always want people to come to church and church activities. That's how they get new members.
They also 'baptise' them after death. Abraham Lincoln is LDS too.
LOL, your entire thesis is based on a misunderstanding of what I was saying.
They strive to be 'inclusive'Abraham Lincoln...LDS? He did not believe in any sort organized Christian religion.
