Nobody eats their own like the Vols

Why is criticizing a 20 year-old man who is making $8mil to play Quarterback in a system he's been in since January 2003 such a "no-go"?

Nobody is threatening his life or calling him names. The vast majority of critique is legitimate. He is missing throws. He is missing reads.

It's fixable but to this point it's been a liability. That's not trolling, just the truth.
My major issue is that people keep bringing up the money.

It's one thing to criticize play, but the HE MADE 8 MILLION nonsense is so old. What if he came here for free and played bad? What if he was paying his own way? What then? Would it make a difference?

Acknowledging it, and adversely reacting to it, are entirely different matters.

Exactly. If a fan doesn’t have concerns, they aren’t paying attention.

But it doesn’t mean that they need to post some unhinged rant about how players suck, players should transfer, fahr the coaches, etc.

It's a nuance for whom some have no interest

These threads demonstrate how far we've come since JH was hired. Imagine if someone told you any time between Dooley and Pruitt that we started the season 5-1, are ranked in the top 10, and Florida and Oklahoma were two of your wins. I like picking the fly sh** out of the pepper more after a win vs Florida, while still pessimistic (but hopeful) about a win vs Bama.

But that's why it's so ridiculous. We should be grateful to be where we're at. 5-1, ranked 11, with a vulnerable Bama team coming in to Neyland. And the majority of the fan base just wants to bitch about everything. We have a top 10 offense and defense.

The OP for the referenced thread currently has 5 likes on his post. Somebody posted what he had for dinner last Friday and was better liked. If anything, the reaction to the referenced post may reflect VN’s collective sanity.

QB is just one position on the offense not playing well. Other than Sampson, nothing else is really happening on that side of the ball.

Exhibit A: today’s page 1 of VN. Some of you people disgust me.

If you’re disgusted at the idea of eating other VN members, I can only assume it’s because you’re a bigoted homophobe

It's not just the trolls. There are a ton of posters that speak as if they are experts, yet don't really know that much about it. It's easy to spot. Many seem to have personal grievances with players and coaches. That sector of fans exist

I don't even mind the clueless comments about strategy, but the venom and anger on here as if a college football team's results are a personal affront is what has made this place toxic.

A month ago Nico was going to win the Heisman, and now he's "our $8 million QB" and Heupel needs a board of directors, including fans, to help him coach. At least Martinez and Banks are temporarily off the hook - until the defense has a bad game, then they'll have to go as well.

And on and on .....

the “why don’t we ever run off tackle crowd”, who don’t understand our main run plays are off tackle plays (power and counter).

I’ve also seen people accuse Banks of being too “bend but don’t break” even though we have one of the highest blitz rates in the country

Let's not get carried away. We all know we're only renting that offense ranking. I'd argue top 5 D, which is, for sure something not everyone has.

Every team in the country except maybe Texas should have concerns.

We should restrict every thread to " Vols by Fiddy " each week and nothing else. Any fan who got bored by watching 4 quarters of "run up the middle for no gain" needs to remember Corn Bread and Dooley days and keep quiet.

It's SEC fans in general. Go cruise Georgia or Bama boards from last Saturday. They are at each other's throats constantly. The majority of Georgia fans wanted to bench Stetson Bennett the entire time he played there and he did something for them twice that hadn't been done in 40 years. We have no monopoly on idiots. It just means more in this conference.
