Nobody eats their own like the Vols

the “why don’t we ever run off tackle crowd”, who don’t understand our main run plays are off tackle plays (power and counter).

I’ve also seen people accuse Banks of being too “bend but don’t break” even though we have one of the highest blitz rates in the country
It's not a large sector that knows the difference in a zone running play and a designed running play, such as the great trap we ran the other night on a big run for Sampson to the right side

It's not just the trolls. There are a ton of posters that speak as if they are experts, yet don't really know that much about it. It's easy to spot. Many seem to have personal grievances with players and coaches. That sector of fans exist

Don’t forget the “our DBs never turn their head!” crowd, who complain about DBs who are out of position not looking for the football because they have 0 understanding of DB play

Why is criticizing a 20 year-old man who is making $8mil to play Quarterback in a system he's been in since January 2003 such a "no-go"?

Nobody is threatening his life or calling him names. The vast majority of critique is legitimate. He is missing throws. He is missing reads.

It's fixable but to this point it's been a liability. That's not trolling, just the truth.
He just played his 7th game. You don’t know how that money is structured. We are 5-1. He will continue to improve. Go look at Peyton Manning’s stats after 7 games. Folks were clamoring for Peyton to be replaced halfway into his freshman year but after a few more games they shut their pie hole and I highly expect that is what will happen again this time. But hey I have only been watching the Vols for 50 years and observed our own group of knee jerk fans that think they know it all. Folks should be happy we’re 5-1 and have a defense that hasn’t given 20 points in a game this season. Some folks might be giving up on our offense but it’s closer to clicking than many realize. I think Nico played much better overall in the second half of the Florida game. He ran more and kept them honest he barely missed a few big throws. We’re going to get on track, doubters keep doubting. We’re 5-1 and let’s GBO!!!!

That doesn't excuse it. It may be a constant, but that's no excuse for petty and immature behavior from fans anywhere.
I didn’t say it did, I just think it’s silly to act like it’s just Vol fans. The title was “nobody eats their own” like us. When in fact, lots of people do. Most people are cool with each other. Lots of people mess around with each other. Sometimes, people get a little too carried away. Ultimately, it’s strangers debating about sports. That’s all.

A lot of people bash players directly. It's classless behavior from first rate rubes

I’m a Bears fan. I’m seeing so many parallels between what I saw with Justin Fields and what I see with Nico. Yes I know Fields had several years on Nico but it’s Deja vu

This is the type of thing you get with a fanbase that cares. Everyone “fans” differently. It’s really no different than society. I suggest find people that align with your beliefs and try to ignore the others.

Folks log on here to blow off steam. It may just be how folks cope. Just let it go.

A fanbase that cares provides us with:
Volwalk
Checker Neyland
Deafening crowd noise
Big home field advantage
Top notch collective and NIL
Growth and Development of campus
All sports programs having success
Merchandise sales
Season ticket sales
And many other things that almost every other school would love to have.

You can't excuse bad behavior as people caring too much. People can't just say what pops into their head, and then you excuse it as "They care a lot!" That's some twisted logic. These are adults, hold their asses accountable for what they say. It's called empathy. I can guarantee you that none of the people associated with the football team wants to fail, especially the young men that puts their health on the line everyday.

Exhibit A: today’s page 1 of VN. Some of you people disgust me.
Absolutely! One of the reasons I love sports is because it mirrors life in so many ways. I genuinely feel sorry for anyone who can’t appreciate how blessed we are right now.

Think about it—just a few years ago, we were the laughingstock of college football, stuck in obscurity. But by 2022, we were ranked #1. A few weeks ago, we hit #4. Sure, we dropped a frustrating game, but we bounced back against a rival and now we’re sitting at #11, still very much in the playoff conversation. This is incredible! Enjoy the ride!

Give me a win over Florida any day of the week. I don’t care if it’s ugly or pretty—a win is a win.

Like I said, sports reflect life. Have any of y’all struggled before? It’s like some of you forget how far we’ve come. I remember a time when I couldn’t even afford $400 a month in rent, but when I got my first job out of college, I paid that rent with gratitude every single month. Was I rich? No. But I was thankful for what I had. It’s the same with football—take the wins where you can, and be grateful for the progress!

The trolls have been running wild here for many years.
Unfortunately, these aren't you normal trolls. They are cave trolls that only come out of their dens when their fragile psyches are damaged and there sure-fire bet fell through. They must be fed because their wallets are foolishly light and the brains are empty. Only reason I can figure that the posts for some make you think our team is 1-6 and in the bottom 25.

People always get upset about money but this is life as a starting QB in the power 4.

We're 5 - 1. Relax
Which is why no one except the player, and the entity negotiating contracts should be privy to such info. It was never confirmed that Nico signed an 8 million dollar contract, so it is merely speculation by everyone. I honestly believe NIL should be treated like any place else, where pay scales/salaries are private. No one on the outside needs to know because it is truly no one else’s business.
