Nobody eats their own like the Vols

I’m not excusing it. Do you feel you are in a position to “hold their asses accountable”. Probably not.

I just know that there will always be folks that we don’t agree with. Understanding that your reality is: nothing can be done about it other than type out your opinion on an anonymous message board.

Everything else you said is ancillary to the topic.
You call it out. They do it for attention, and no one holds their ass accountable.

Then you are taking this place way to serious.

All posts become facts. The PROGRAM is gauged by insiders and OUTSIDERS based on facts. Record, stats et.al. Is team performance, and every individual in the world gets to assess those. Attendance and inclusive fan performance, including posts, are equally in play for analysis of the fanbase element of THE PROGRAM. In recent years the fans have not rivaled the TRAILER TRASH activities of immediate post Kiffy, but it was real and hung around for a while.

Like it or not, character counts for coaches, players, and fans. With fans it is not so much what is said, but HOW it is said. On the field for players, in the stands, on the radio or in social media for others.

Why is criticizing a 20 year-old man who is making $8mil to play Quarterback in a system he's been in since January 2003 such a "no-go"?

Nobody is threatening his life or calling him names. The vast majority of critique is legitimate. He is missing throws. He is missing reads.

It's fixable but to this point it's been a liability. That's not trolling, just the truth.
1. $8 million has never been confirmed, to my knowledge. That amount was "reported". Even if you assume it is accurate, the amount is spread over the duration of the deal, not just for this season.
2. Whatever the worth of his NIL deal, it is not a salary for playing QB at Tennessee. It is for the use of his name, image and likeness. For reference, Colin Kaepernick signed a multi million dollar NIL with Nike in 2018. At the time, he had not played a down of football in two years and has not played since. Also, Quinn Ewers is reportedly making $1.7 million in NIL deals for just this season. He has fewer passing yards and average yards per pass than Nico.

Obviously Nico’s stats are better than the stats from player 2. Higher completion percentage, more yards, less turnovers, and a win. Is number 2 Joe? Because he was a 5th or 6th year senior

It was Guarantano. And while Nico's stats are better, they're only marginally better.

Heupel straight up said QB, WRs and OL need to be better. They do.

And you're fooling yourself if you think Nico's play had much at all to do with our win. He struggled to move the ball, turned it over twice and blew reads/throws.

Because most doing the criticizing can’t walk up two flights of stairs without getting winded and nearly vomitting

I said he needed to be better. We agree there. I disagree he’s been a liability. Nico has already flashed the ability to make throws in tight windows that not many can make. He’s obviously missed some throws and had some bad turnovers in there. The game is just moving too quick for him right now and most of that is due to the poor OL play. They can’t form a clean pocket around him and he’s taking hits. He’s rushing things and just needs to get more consistent snap to snap. He may be putting immense pressure on himself to perform bc of the NIL too. At the end of the day he’s a kid that’s shown high level talent but needs refinement

My major issue is that people keep bringing up the money.

It's one thing to criticize play, but the HE MADE 8 MILLION nonsense is so old. What if he came here for free and played bad? What if he was paying his own way? What then? Would it make a difference?
Yes it would make a HUGE difference. Look along with Nico’s insane HS rating m, his NIL deal was the first of its kind. And all of college football is looking at that deal. And right now that deal looks terrible for us.

If he came here for free? Or paid his own way? The criticism would still be there but it wouldn’t be in the forefront like it is. Why? Because everyone knows about the money. Sorry but he has huge expectations on him. And right now he isn’t living up to them.

He can play better, but good God to whine about how much NIL he got....it's just inconsequential. It doesn't matter. The average whiner didn't pay a dime. And none of that money is tied to performance. It's Name Image Likeness.
You don't think his NIL helped bring other recruits? To bring attention to TN? How much would we spend on marketing for that same amount of exposure?

He needs to get sharper, but have you happened to watch the games and notice how often he's pressured? 10 sacks in the last 3 games. OL sucks. 26 offensive penalties for like 170 yards in the last 3 games. How many of those were Holding, illegal man down field, false start on the OL?

The QB, especially a young one, can't overcome down and distance issues due to terrible protection and worse fundamentals.
