I think the way she speaks and her etiquette is part of her brand as a Black woman from Baltimore. It’s seemingly more “real” and less reflective of what academic partners think is marketable, which is an entire side conversation. fwiw, I agree that she could have pursued that, but I think it’s really phenomenal that women’s sports (and social media plays a large role in this) have expanded such that people can try to forge unique paths towards whatever financial success looks like for them.
Yes! We wouldn’t even be having this discussion/debate.
I brought this up as a debate topic because I’m curious of others POV so it’s good to see!
I can appreciate what you and Amb are saying.
That said, if Angel doesn’t develop some professionalism that’s a non-starter. They won’t put someone on broadcast with a loose tongue like that. Doesn’t matter your color.
I CANNOT remember her name or find her. But there was a young woman on the SEC broadcast panel for women’s basketball last season and the season before. She was awful, never prepared, constantly getting things wrong, talked over co-hosts and was generally just loud and annoying. She was clearly let go this season and does not seem to be working in broadcasting at all anymore. You have to be professional in that game or you’re out, you can’t embarrass yourself, the network and your co-hosts on live tv lol.
Wanna say maybe it was Joy something? Idk
