Kim Mulkey will get a statue for that. If any player on that team is getting one it’s Jasmine Carson. Because without her going unconscious in the first half and having the game of her life it’s probably a different story.

And that comes down to great coaching. Those bench players were ready when their number was called and they carried LSU to the championship. Kim said it over and over.

Without Angel obviously getting to a natty was not feasible although I would say Morris and Carson were easily the stars of the game for LSU in that national title

Idk if Angel will get a statue or not yet, it’s still highly early but I just mentioned Fowles because her impact on basketball was certainly special in college, in wnba and as a multiple time Olympian

I’ll give Mulkey her credit, but Reese is the reason players like Carson stepped up after the refs tried to gift Iowa a ring, after calling all those phantom foul calls. Reese pumps confidence in her teammates all season for moments like that, I’ve watched it in real time. It I know u won’t take my word for it, so listen to what Paige says in this clip for yourself.

If LSU wants to give Reeves a statue for the national championship, I would think that was fine. Aja was a 4-year player and the first recruit from South Carolina to lead the program to a national title. That is different from a player who transferred in and wasn't from Louisiana....but put up a statue at LSU for Reeves......and add one for Mulkey......it's LSU's call.

Looks like he will need to take A. Watkins off this list now, but otherwise good insight imo.

As far as SEC players that could make their way onto a 1st, 2nd or 3rd team All American roster, I would think these players are all in play:

Booker and Harmon from Texas
Johnson, Morrow and maybe Williams from LSU
Fulwiley from SC
Beers from OK
Amoore from UK

There are some I missed, and plenty of honorable mention candidates like Barker from Bama, Pao Pao from SC, etc. of which others on here can pipe in on.

Watching ESPN coverage of Pat Summitt, who died last night at 64. Summit, if you don't know, was the legendary and beloved women's basketball coach at the University of Tennessee. It is hard to overstate her impact on women's basketball and everyone who came in touch with her.
