Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2023-24

As the early recruiting period ends and the class rankings are made official, across the WBB landscape people are stunned after a recruiting blitz of the most historic WBB program of all-time headlines a stockpile of elite future talent heading to Rocky Top in a shocking turn of events unforeseen in the sport.
This morning, no coach in WBB (not a single one) had anticipated this immediate resurgence of elite recruiting of the LV program.
Every poster on here for months, years, said recruiting particularly on the high school level was the key factor.
Now let’s talk recruiting.
GBO!

It’s really exciting!

I’m very surprised SC isn’t in the top 20 at least. They have quite a bit graduating. I haven’t done a deep dive to see who has extra eligibility but would have thought they would take a couple top players in this class.

Any of the SC fans care to explain? Genuinely curious. Thought yall would take a forward and off guard in this class. I know McDowell is signed and she is a great prospect.

Obviously not hurting and who is coming back are awesome players. Don’t think anything is wrong there just curious.

They are still in on Makeer at least she lists them. Other than that player looks like everyone else is taken. Chavez does not list them.

We usually have one year where we just take one player. Dawn will usually take a transfer to go with the player that year. It's not unusual although it's not common.

That is incorrect....unless you have a newer update.
Aaliyah Chavez, the No. 1 player in the Class of 2025 released her top six schools. The six programs she included are LSU, Texas, South Carolina, UCLA, Texas Tech and Oklahoma.

The 5-foot-11 point guard from Lubbock (Texas) Monterey High School narrowed her list down from 10 schools recently, but with the new update USC, Arizona, Tennessee and Ohio State are no longer in consideration.

LSU is out, but you're right that South Carolina is technically still in. However, most think it's down to Texas, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma: Intel: Where does uncommitted No. 1 recruit Aaliyah Chavez stand?

I thought she had cut it to three, OU, Tech and Texas but that could just be a rumor.

On3 had predicted that the Sooners have a 51.6% chance of landing Chavez, followed by Texas Tech and Texas with 16% and 13.7%, respectively. West Coast power UCLA and defending national champion South Carolina are in contention as well. - Oct 19, 2024.

SC is probably not a realistic landing spot for Chavez at this point. I believe Makeer is still in play however. Not counting on it though tbh. next season’s team will look like this:

Watkins, Kitts, Edwards, Tac, Dauda will play the 4-5 spots
Raven, Fulwiley, Tessa Jonson, McDaniel will play 1-2 spots
Edwards, McDowell, Fulwiley, Dauda and Tessa are 3 spot options

Remains to be seen if they take a portal player. That’s ten deep with several that can rotate between positions. Staley likes 10-12 that can play, she will likely grab one portal player.

I don't know why we didn't go after Makeer as well. She looks to be the type of player that KC likes. Long and Athletic and shoot it out to the 3 point Arc. Chavez on the other hand just wants too much money coming in. With the kind of change she is looking for, she better guarantee a national championship in year one. 1 million dollars for a freshman is insanity. She sure has gumption....

Nebraska lost to Creighton and should drop them out of the top 25. Maybe UT sneaks in without playing a game.
I like that. Oklahoma/UNLV should be interesting. UNLV lived in the top 25 last year and I am not sure why other than them dominating their conference. Both teams come in with good records so that is my 9:30 assignment if I can find it streaming somewhere.

WVU 33 to 4 in the 3rd Q. Playing a cupcake, still impressive.
Vandy looks decent against Samford. Of course the 6'5 center for Samford had 3 fouls the first 12 min of the game. Got to love that "Memorial Magic"
