It’s not just semantics when you’re talking about actually withdrawing because you know you’re in the tourney vs being removed becuz of covid and it actually costs you your shot...

i guess i didn’t want confusion because if we use the word “withdrew” for them and then that word again for a team actually withdrawing and being able to compete it makes a difference.

But i see you get that the teams were removed for covid so it’s all good

Has a Freshman ever won National Player of the Year before in womens' college basketball? Anybody know?

She didn’t score that well against us but it was clear she had special skills. I haven’t see her play but from our game to National Player of Year as a freshman is pretty remarkable. She must be a lot better than what she showed against us

I believe I read where the Florida coach has already talked to him a couple of times this year and a couple of times last year about his demeanor. Looks like he ain't getting it.

I don't think Paige will sweep the POY awards, but I certainly think she deserves to be on the short list of contenders. Didn't play well vs. Tennessee, but still hit the go-ahead 3 that iced the game in the last minute. Looking at her #s, there's not much argument against her worthiness.

Can't think of prior freshmen winners, but also can't think of any that have played at this level right from the get go (along with Caitlin Clark, who is every bit as impressive).

I think Auriemma got it right when he said that her impact on the team should be part of the equation. My opinion is that UConn loses at least 5-6 games without her. He also said that if there is another player that had as much impact on her team then he would vote for that player.

Oh, sure he would. Because he is so trustworthy and objective.

Look, no one blames him for hyping his player. Her accolades make him look better...although, ironically, his statement indicates poor player development from the coaching staff if a roster full of top-tier recruits relies upon one player more than any other team in the country. He must live in fear of the Georgetowns and Creightons in the mighty Big East. How ever could they have eked out wins in order to go 14-0 in the conference...a formidable feat, to be sure.

Clark > Bueckers.
