Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2023-24

It would be one thing if they decided that they didn't want to take the COVID exposure risk. Otherwise, unless you're a UConn/Stanford/Baylor team that is a top 4 seed year in, year out...I don't get the arrogance in not playing if you didn't make the NCAAT. Even then, a team like ND could probably use the confidence boost to set up next season. But for teams like LSU and MSST whose best days are behind them? Pure arrogance from a coach who thinks more highly of themselves than they actually deserve.

I don't get it, either. McCray is a first year HC and Caldwell has been underperforming at LSU basically her entire time there. Yet they act like they're too good for the WNIT. Reminds me of when Vivian Stringer did it at Rutgers years ago.

I just went back and looked at ACC Wake schedule the best win was over a tired MO St team and VT to me is not that good. If you put Wake in the SEC they win lesss games then OLD and LSU a fact.

Yep! I can’t understand some of the teams getting in. I would of put Ole Miss in who beat 3 nationally ranked teams and them not getting in!

I was shocked about that too. Really didn’t think the ACC was that great this year. Just has a lot of teams who were the same level of mediocre. Was shocked they were the league that got 8 teams in.

I think all of them but NC State and Louisville will lose in the first or second round. SEC and PAC 12 were much deeper conferences.

There is no way Wake should be in the field

They played a lot of good teams close but only had one win over a ranked opponent. To me that doesn’t get you in. I agree that Ole Miss should have been in. They beat 3 top 25 teams and played well down the stretch when they needed to.

Saw Coach Yo tested positive for COVID. Hopefully she’ll be alright.

Yes saw that to

Are we certain that the ADs at LSU and Mississippi State weren't behind the decisions to turn down the invitations?

Like most everyone else, I also believe that not letting the team play in the WNIT is a mistake. It should be the players' decision, anyway, by a simple majority vote. The WNIT gives young players experience of playing in the post-season, which certainly can't HURT future prospects -- especially if they were to win it all.

Former UNC HC Sylvia Hatchell always refused going to the WNIT when she didn't make the NCAAs. She always said that the NIT stood for Not Invited. The current UNC HC Banghart wasn't going accept the WNIT's invit either if had been played last season.

I would rather see Ole Miss in there than them and I like UNC. BUT, UNC should be in over Wake!

Geno spoke at the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce breakfast on Monday morning. This is an annual event for Geno, always a few days before the NCAA tournament. During the Q & A Geno mentioned that he has 2 commits from the class of 2022 and expects 1 or 2 more. He already has Ice Brady and Boneyard is expecting the second commit to be Ayanna. No idea about who the other 1 or 2 are.
