I would bet she declines a WNIT bid out of pride and sets expectations of “NCAA tournament play.”

Even if they do play in the WNIT I think a couple players will throw their name out there sooner rather than later. The portal is going to be competitive this season. Adds a whole other dimension to the game.

Just watched VCU beat UMass for the A10 tourney title. Looking at the joy and excitement on the faces of those young women because they’re so grateful to be in the NCAA tournament really puts some things in perspective.

Yes. Been here all my life. If I remember right, Sutton went to Parkway North. Am I remembering right or was it South? Saw her sitting in the stands watching a game her senior year and I could see she had a leg or ankle injury. I am a Sumnerite.

Yep, you are correct. Parkway North, my alma mater as well. She tore her ACL her senior year at the Viz Christmas tourney.

She’s a great recruiter. With her recruiting record and hopefully learned lessons from her head coaching tenure here, she could be scary to face.

I think Sug has a shot to make it this year because he wants her around to back up CLoud after Lelani Mitchell contract is up after this year. What also works in her favor is that she is the better defender of Jackie and Johnson.

We currently have 13 signed (the limit is 12) with no draft picks this year. I think Mike is more likely to keep all of the guards and get rid of one of the bigs. I think the final spot will be between Erica McCall and Theresa Plaisance ( unless someone else is cut from another team).

She's stupid...because this is probably the last chance at post-season play that she will get as MSST's head coach. They will be fighting with Vanderbilt for last place in the SEC next season.

That is an uninformed comment. Teams have played in the WNIT and come back the next season and made it to the big tourney. The extra games can be a lot of help in gaining players experience. Accepting second does not make it become a standard.

It would be one thing if they decided that they didn't want to take the COVID exposure risk. Otherwise, unless you're a UConn/Stanford/Baylor team that is a top 4 seed year in, year out...I don't get the arrogance in not playing if you didn't make the NCAAT. Even then, a team like ND could probably use the confidence boost to set up next season. But for teams like LSU and MSST whose best days are behind them? Pure arrogance from a coach who thinks more highly of themselves than they actually deserve.

This makes NO SENSE for a team who is trying to build especially if it’s a new coach who didn’t even get the same number of games in the pandemic...

If i was a 1st or second year coach and my team needs more experience and I see growth we are playing ... Gotta remember 2nd year coaches didn’t get a post season last year either
