Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2023-24

This is why I had Maryland in the national title game in my bracket. Their offense is just stupidly good.
Their team defense is ranked 250 out of 336 teams. Their offense is #1. But I think they might have trouble playing a team like South Carolina whose #23 in offense and #42 in defense. Much more balanced. Or even UConn whose team defense is #2 and their team offense is #4. Maryland definitely has a puncher chance but the old saying is, "Offense sells tickets but defense wins championships."

I heard something yesterday I did not know....The talking heads said that since the Women's NCAA tournament began no team outside of a 3 seed had ever won the tournament. That surprised me.

Does it though? It is so heavily dominated by the bigger schools with the 15 schollys allowed in the women's game.

Yes this is the same group been together for three seasons all seniors and juniors. After this season I think program heading for a fall losing a lot.

Depends how many of the seniors decide to come back after this year.

Either way, Coach Mox has took what Kellie left and taken it to new heights. Sure, it will depend on her ability to recruit but I don't think she will be lacking there either.

It shouldn't. This is not a sport with parity, it's a sport with a small to moderate sized pool of elite talent both on and off the court. Thanks to an outsized media focus relative to its footprint, the sport also has generous spotlights placed on the handful of programs that excel. Tennessee used to be one of those programs -- and benefited immensely from it, just as that school up in the north does now.

I don't understand the hate for Evina. It should be clear that Holly was the problem all along.

During her time with Tennessee, I don't recall any significant conduct issues with Evina. It was only when she gave that interview at the end of the season that all of a sudden she became the second coming of Satan.

Not only has Auriemma given a lot of high praise to Westbrook but, if anything the comments coming from her team mates are even more glowing. They all say that she is the team leader. Becker says that she is the team mom - "but don't tell her I said that"

True that could definitely happen or Franklin and Haslip could transfer to Tennessee we would be glad to have them.
