Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

After an 11 point lead, UCONN struggles to score and SC ties it up 34-34 at halftime. This is where SC will prevail. Foul trouble and lack of players showing to be a sign of weakness for UCONN. If UCONN plays like they did against us where everything they shoot is made, then they could keep things interesting, but SC size and depth is proving to be too much.

From a Connecticut standpoint, they should be encouraged. Although they do not have the depth, or the rebounding, to pull this one out, knowing they should have Fudd and DuCharme back by tournament time they should be encouraged by their first half performance.

Looks like SC has two token starters as it is clear that Cardoso and Johnson should be starting over Fletcher and Saxon. At least they are getting starters minutes which is making the difference.
Not a fair comparison. Their bench is loaded with players who would star on any other team. So someone really good is going to sit.

Sc has been extremely terrible from the perimeter today. 0 for 9 from the three. That has kept UConn close. I said in my first post if Sc hit some perimeter shots it would be a double digit win and they haven't.

Makes you wonder if SC will have a lot more transfers this year. Lots of players on their team who could be starting other places.
Why would they? Most of them came to USC knowing how loaded it was, and also IF Boston leaves, they will lose several key players. Prosper came to this team mid season knowing how deep their team was.

There’s many reasons as to why they would. When you’re a young player, the idea of going to a winning program who can get you to win a championship is pretty enticing. Dawn has been known to be able to sell the program to top players, and that’s what she should be doing. Young players usually don’t even realize anything until they’re in it, and with this generation of players, they aren’t willing to stick it out. They will transfer out the soonest chance they get. That’s what Saniya Rivers did with SC last year. She was good, and got little to no playing time. It’s not always about winning a championship, as Rivers did with SC, it’s about playing time with a lot of these good players. SC has tried to stack up their roster the last several years, with a starting lineup and one that could replace it coming in off the bench. Only the off-season will tell what happens.
