Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Wow. I sincerely hope SCAR never has a rash of injuries. But if many SCAR fans have your attitude it may be unavoidable. (Galatians 6:7)
You did the same thing as the sisaq poster on this site……you took the message wrong. Once again, I was responding to all the pregame statements by Husky fans saying they only had 5 players that could play. UConn had 8 players available. I realize two starters are injured and are great players. But UConn did not only have 5 players today, they had 8, so if we are in Feb and there are bench players that you do not dare to put in the game than that is on the Huskies, because you recruited and signed those players on the bench. You made it something it wasn’t, which is not the first time for you. Your team was amazing today btw, such desire by the ones that get to play.

I’ll give a huge credit here to Geno for keeping this game close, something hardly anyone has mentioned. He game planned several different defensive looks and employed all of them at various points in the game which was effective as hell. He also managed the clock like a maestro the last 90 seconds. He is the Goat, not the first Goat, but the present Goat and likely the historic Goat when it’s all said and done, what a brilliant tactician and teacher of offensive basketball, he has no peer.

For all the other teams that think this close win by SC proves they are beatable (they are of course), you better have a coach like GA that can prepare and execute a game plan like he does, I’ve never seen another like him tbh. He outcoached Dawn tremendously in this game, from an X’s and O’s Standpoint. But there is more to the job, and Dawn excels at those other aspects, she might be the best right now at collecting talent and building a team atmosphere where everyone has a role and executes it.

I suspect the Huskies will probably have the energy and momentum at home to finish the first quarter with a likely lead, and it will be a close game at halftime. Uconn will again have a good start to the 3rd, but by the end of that quarter we should start seeing SC begin to take control of the game defensively and on the boards. By the 4th, I think SC has the momentum and pulls away but it would not surprise me to see the Huskies make a valiant effort to comeback and pull it out, but it probably ends with a 6-8 point SC win with Uconn having to foul or possibly even having some players out due to fouls. I would think SC wins the boards something like 45-35, maybe more.

Side note, this is the type of game (opponent has size in front court) where SC will play Boston and Cardoso together on the floor a good bit….which is also when you see Raven in the lineup, she has a knack for getting passes into the bigs, especially to Cardoso, she puts the ball where only the 6’7 Brazilian can reach it around the rim.

The betting line is SC -4.5, so this might be a very close game after all. Uconn at home hardly ever loses let alone lose by double digits, I’m concerned about this game being @Uconn from a SC fan perspective.
You called it!

That poster read it the same way I did.

I saw that, too. She has basically no shooting ability (her first shot is usually really ugly) but then she shoves players out of the way to get so many offensive boards and then "gets fouled" to get herself to the free throw line.

This game is yet another example of how LSU has done nothing at all to merit their cockiness.

Morris with 20 points but also 9 turnovers.

SC will give them a reality check when they play, and could even lose to Ole Miss.

Tennessee needs to win out over these upcoming MS St, Vandy, Arkansas, Aub SEC games. Then be at their best & healthy against South Carolina. If Tennessee plays four quarters against SC and looks like a contender I’ll still put the LVs as 2nd best in the SEC. If they beat SC then the LVs are in the drivers seat. LSU doesn’t have a chance to beat SC playing this kind of basketball. They will not get the bailout calls on SC home-court.

Yo, Janiah....
Oh lawsy careful what you wish for. Good player, but quite the handful.
Oh, and it's fun to think that Geno's water bottle toss ended up resulting in a 4-pt possession for S
Also resulted in the annoucers blaming Tennessee. Poor Geno got upset "down here" you see, and is not quite over it yet.
Angel Reese with a taunting technical foul…not the first from her, or the last to be called.
And this dear, is why people don't like you. You are disrespectful of other players. I wonder if this crap will hurt her NPOY bid.

I've never seen Boston do this. Much as I sports dislike Dawn, I don't think she'd have it. Especially when the Ts cost points!

LSU is definitely a team headed for a fall. Can't happen soon enough.

In the 30 minute Fox TV pregame show, Dawn admitted that Uconn played such a beautiful style of basketball during their run (it isn’t over yet) and that her teams “muck it up some” by relying on defense and rebounding and admitted it is not as “pretty”. She is right of course. Which shows there are different ways to win, and she ended by saying it can be beautiful basketball when a team is playing so well defensively also…..but prob only hard core fans can appreciate that style.

connies by 8 over dawn's pro team. mark it down!
First it was South Carolina has never beat UCONN, Dawn can't coach. Then it was Dawn has only won one title and Miss. St. was off because of their game with UCONN, Dawn can't coach. Then Dawn beats UCONN in the only championship game he ever lost. Then Dawn win's three in a row and 4 of the last five and the it's "connied by 8 over dawn's pro team. mark it down !". I did...love seeing you be wrong so many times....lol....Dawn can absolutely coach.
