Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Utah and Stanford have done everything to try to lose that one seed...

Call me a Debbie downer, but regardless of the outcome of the LSU/TN game, I just can't see anyone getting past SC. I guess stranger things have happened, much like the SEC Championship last year where a few kids get scolding hot but its still not likely.

Maryland will be interesting. The quality wins really stands out over the other competitors for that 1 seed. They are playing their best ball right now.

I have not been impressed with the PAC 12 this season. I think several of them are going to get bounced early in the tournament.

Whereas I think there are a couple SEC teams, like Ole Miss and UGA that might really surprise some teams in the tournament.

Yeah I don't think the SEC is as strong as previous years, many are in rebuild mode but there are many teams near the top like you mention who are better than what the national media gives credit for. Ole Miss and Georgia will be tough outs in the tournament.

Yes, they are playing well.

Maryland needed a quarter to shake off a bit of rust after almost a week off. Fortunately, the Terps were able to blow the game open in the second quarter. None of the players ended up playing more than 29 minutes so, Maryland should be in fairly good shape vis-a-vis fatigue in tomorrow's matchup against Iowa. The Terps are likely to try the same game plan that was so successful against the Hawkeyes at College Park on February 21. If it works as well a second time, great. If not, then it will be a game of adjustments.

Good luck to the Lady Vols against the Tigers.

I agree with you about Duke having just as more talent as anyone other South Carolina and UConn.
Yep and most of them have been terribly inconsistent offensively for their entire college careers. High school AA does not always equal top talent in the college game. It more consistently means great athlete. If you look the college careers of the transfers st Duke, only Celeste was consistently a stand out.
It is just lazy analysis to use a high school honor to evaluate the talent of a player well into or almost finished with their college career.

Elizabeth Balogun was the ACC ROY at GT and then she transferred to Louisville to become a role player. Sometimes the grass is always greener on the other side. I know you're a fan from the that school in Durham and you guys loves to spin the Bad News Bears narrative on both your basketball teams.

I am expecting Ole Miss to really play SC well today. Coach Yo has done a great job with that team and they fear no one. They should be ranked tbh, but regardless, they play like they belong with top 10-15 type teams most games. I think they come out fired up and with revenge on their mind. SC has to be careful in this game. OM will double Boston the entire time she is in, Cooke needs to be on her game today.

In the last meeting, SC should have been called for a foul in the last seconds of regulation imo, OM probably deserved to win that game.

Just proving my point...she has not been consistent.
BTW, I am a Lawson fan. As such, I have followed Tenn much longer than I have followed Duke. The Duke men's team (well really any men's team) isn't even on my radar, but keep making assumptions........It suits your narrative

Troy gets screwed by horrific officiating AGAIN! Unbelievable their season was stolen from them like that! 😡 I am still angry about the Troy getting screwed against Texas A&M in the NCAA Tournament the year before Alexus "Snoop" Dye transferred to Tennessee from Troy. Ugh.

They gotta file a complaint. Idk what can be done but at the very least someone needs to lose their job. Head official should never officiate a collegiate game again. Period.

Love all the different teams and players we get to hear about on this thread!
Miss the poster whose team was the Argonauts though. And of course continue to miss St. Louis Vol☹️

Yes, still thinking of stlvol. She and I always get on well and I miss her. It’s so strange making friends on here.

I know I seem like a lunatic on here Lucy, but I’m really very laid back IRL. VolNation is my one and only fantasy land and Lady Vol basketball is seriously my only passion.

I developed a love for Tennessee and the women’s game as a kid in the 90s. Idolized Pat and her demeanor.

So glad this site exists for us all the share our love for the game. That’s why I created this thread a few years ago. Really nice to get to know people outside of the game threads where I am generally a total basket case lmao.

Don’t ask me why I’m so attached to Lady Vol basketball, I can’t even explain it. During the final couple Holly years it impacted my mental health in real life lol.

At this point I have suspicions as to whether Fudd and Bueckers will ever stay healthy enough to play pro. I think companies will start waiting on NIL stuff until players are further on in their career.

I still shudder to think of the internal conversations at Gatorade. They cannot be happy with how that has gone with Bueckers. Seems like her star has really faded lately. Used to see her all the time even though she wasn’t playing. Not seeing her on social hardly at all and not hearing anything about her.

She’s been around…

People like to talk about how bad the offense is in the SEC, but the ACC tournament hasn't exactly been a showcase for offense. UNC-Duke were at 9-8 after the first quarter yesterday (and 44-40 final score), and now Louisville is up 12-7 on Notre Dame after Q1.
Travis, I could see many of the ACC teams flame out in the NCAA’s….
