I'm not arguing that Tennessee shouldn't be better. I think it was a mistake for Fulmer to limit his search to former Lady Vols ... but my point still holds : Replacing one of the all time greats, and a coach who has been the face of your program for over 35 years, will rarely be a smooth transition in any sport ... Like I said, let's see how well Stanford and UConn handle it.There are dozens of teams that had less talent, no HOF coach,, less resources, in fact, weren't even in many conversations 10 years ago that have outperformed TN. That's a fact.

SO...how long does it take to get back on track? TN was a powerhouse and still very relevant. They could have had their pick of almost any coach. Didn't Pat choose her replacement? Notre Dame is still in the hunt after McGraw left so...I'm not buying that TN's issues are related to Pat retiring, especially when the recruiting didn't fall off. And it definitely isn't related to what some other team might experience in the future.
