Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

I'm calling my old high school tomorrow. Damnit I led my high school basketball team to State finals 3 years in a row.

Leading scorer and rebounder from shooting guard position.

I want my damn statue ASAP.🧐🧐🧐

35 years is long enough to wait..

BTW I actually visited my old high school rite before Christmas break.

I stopped and admired the team photo from the years that went to state tournament, a teenager came up and asked what I was looking at .
I said my old high school team photo that went to state finals .
He said cool which one are you, so I pointed and the kids reaction was priceless.
He said are you sure that's you? Lol
Now the problem becomes...do you want the older you as the statue or the younger you who did this? 🤣

Now Georgia has one. You get a moral victory and you get a moral victory . . .

Seriously I think this week has taken a some of the sense of invincibility away fm SC. Gives teams a little hope going in.
Great to be undefeated. I’m a proponent of if you run 10-12 games off, losing one is a nice reminder.

I think UGA benefitted heavily from us having just played SC really tough. That game against us was physical, defensive and mentally exhausting. They looked sluggish against UGA.

And yet didn't bother us, and we had 3 games last week. KJH really gave high praise to the training staff for their recovery planning and execution. She also held shootaround on Saturday when they got there and let them sleep in yesterday. It was a really lucky break for us that we didn't have to travel far for this game.

I think the UGA game in particular showed that SC is vulnerable to strong inside players without Cardosa, but I still think they look pretty bulletproof because eventually they will just pull away. If they stick around within striking range, my money is on them eventually heating up from deep or just wearing out other team.

I have to say that I was very impressed how resoundingly they came out and took care of business yesterday. Like with the Arkansas game, the elements were in place for this to be a trap game, but they seem to have saved their best performances this season for those two games (moral victories notwithstanding).

That banner does go back to 1945, an era when the NIT was more prestigious than the NCAA Tournament.
A banner just for making a tournament? I thought the general consensus by some around here was that those were reserved for championships only? Besides, look at the dates closer, plenty of them date from the 2000’s…..and, by the mid 80’s the NIT had been relegated and that would mean all but 3 of those dates are from when the NIT was a secondary type tournament.

We talk a lot about how if Kari was three or four inches taller things might look a lot different for her. It’s unfortunate because she’s a hard worker and very talented, but you can’t teach height and length. To your point though, it would be a dream to be able to play her as a 4.
Love your new avatar, cute pup!

Brittannica, looks like we have similar vehicles and we both like canines as our copilots.

What Aja did at South Carolina is not going to change in 20 years. Those accomplishments are baked in. You have concern about what we do to reward our program. Our coaches and our players? That just shows you have nothing going on. The University of Tennessee could put up a statue for Jackson tomorrow and I couldn't care less. It's the Tennessee programs decision. It makes no sense that this is even a subject to be discussed. The "she should get it at 42" might be the craziest statement yet. Is her national championship and stats going to be greater? Is she not going to be the first when she is 42 as she is at 22? I mean, give me a break. Heritage and legacy are there already....geez....
Well , we have one statue. It is of the greatest and most impactful coach in WBB history. We have had numerous players better that Aja; Holdsclaw, Parker, Catchings. They do not have statues. Building a great big gaudy house does not mean you have taste. SC has a way to go for legacy and heritage. Not saying they won’t get there but fake banners and statues of kids who have barely left campus show you don’t have that legacy. New money.

I suppose having a banner made for making the NIT tournament is justified but one for being the consensus number one team in the country isn’t. That’s like old money thinking when the coffers have run dry. Do the statues at UF and Oklahoma of recently graduated FB players mean they lack legacy and heritage also? Or is your beef just with SC?

You will notice the dates on that banner. They start when the NIT was THE national tournament. I believe 1945? That is called history. That is called legacy.

So a banner just for making a tourney? Even when most of the dates are after the tourney was relegated to those teams that didn’t make the NCAA’s? What’s better, being number one in the nation or qualifying for a relegated tournament? Asking for a friend…btw, I have no beef with your banner. And I believe if you check, UT had that banner taken down for reasons of their own.

Well the LVs, nor UConn nor Stanford have banners for finishing ranked number one. These are the programs it looks like SC aspires to be among. Longevity counts. The ranked #1 banner is just Dawn promotion again in my eyes.
You know more than I do about what banners the men have hanging. I like history so I thought that was kind of cool whether it is still there or not. Makes me think of Hoosiers!

Fairfield has played 1 Quad 1 game ALL season...Vandy and lost. 0 Q2 games. This week beat 347 St Peter's at home 52 46 and 300 Mt Saint Mary's 61 59 on the road. Whoever is voting for them needs their votes taken away. Just because they are 21 and 1 doesn't mean they should be ranked. Oh and their NET is 84.
