Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

The statue of Dawn Staley soon to be erected on the corner of Main and Gervais looks to be based on this picture of her cutting down the net. I understand the effort to make this happen was spearheaded by the City of Columbia and not the University. It will be located just a few yards from the State House grounds where the stars and bars once flew.

Well , we have one statue. It is of the greatest and most impactful coach in WBB history. We have had numerous players better that Aja; Holdsclaw, Parker, Catchings. They do not have statues. Building a great big gaudy house does not mean you have taste. SC has a way to go for legacy and heritage. Not saying they won’t get there but fake banners and statues of kids who have barely left campus show you don’t have that legacy. New money.
You still don't get it. Seriously are you that dense? With Aja it's a first....wow...we had never been a WBB school, and she took us to our first national championship. You sound more like sour grapes than anything else...geez....South Carolina just took away one of your legacies.....the longest win streak in SEC history now belongs to us. We also hold the record for most consecutive SEC tournament championships. That is the building of a legacy.....sorry to have dethroned you and have you get all upset but "sh#t happens".

I would think Tennessee fans can express sour grapes on a Tennessee fan board. Surely you guys have your own for this type of thing?

Wrong forum for this argument.

South Carolina hasn’t dethroned anyone. Call us when you’ve got about 6 more nattys.

Until then keep hanging banners and building statues for people students will be asking “who dat” in 10 years.

I think the dense title belongs to you.
SC has no legacy yet. It takes consistent excellence over an extended period of time to have a legacy. The mere fact that SC threw up a statue of a 22 year old because she was the star of their first Nattie shows just how much SC does not have a legacy at this time.
SC has established some new records for sure but the Lady Vols are not dethroned as a program. Pat Summit and the Lady Vols put WBB on the map. I think even Dawn would admit she would not be where she is without Pat.
The world I guess revolves around SC but yet here you are on our site. I don’t bother to go see what the cockies think about anything. I actually could not care less. Don’t forget to get the gold plating on your commode.

LOL you said it when you said the other day that premature statues are very "new money". SC is kind of the Righteous Gemstones of WBB.

OTOH, us thinking that is very gentrified "old money". We're really jealous af. I'd throwi up a few statues of adolescents if it meant we were at least within sniffing distance of a championship to tell the truth.

I hear you but I believe we can get the program back on track without stooping to cubic zirconium. 😃

Illinois 86 - Indiana - 66. Didn't see that coming. Illinois only played 6 players. Makes the "run out of gas" argument for the Lady Vols vs USC seem lame.
Bad take.. but what is weird is Illinois only took 9 threes and that’s literally what got them all their success last year

Wonder if Green is changing it completely up bc they have struggled hard this year

Always been a fan of the seven to eight man rotation with the top five putting in at least 170 minutes of that time. We've at least cut it some and of course Key getting 20 is about all she can take.

Free throw and turnovers were the real difference 20-24 and 5 tos for Illinois and 8-9 and 14 tos for Indiana

12-13 difference and 9 to dif
I checked the boxscore and possessions were 71 Illinois and 59 Indiana. Plus 12 they also won the shooting percentage and got to the line. It all resulted in a blowout win.

When we played them Garzon absolutely lit us up. Last few games she’s been a goose egg.

That Indiana game is one I would really like back. Even without Rickea we should have beat that time. I just don’t think they are that good, very well coached, but they don’t have the horses in the stable to be really really good.

We have a much better roster, they have the better coach by a long shot.

Teri Moren is a phenomenal coach I love her system and the standars she holds her players to. Their warmups are no joke

I got in a fight with an Indiana fan for saying I don’t think they’re very good, but I said it with my chest, stand on business, whatever. We have more talent than they do and should have won that game. I’ve ranked it as the third most infuriating loss in my opinion this season.

I agree. It was infuriating after that game is when I was ready for a new coach (still am TBH).

The roster management in that game made 0 sense.

Having Wells go out was sad but honestly our rotations improved. If Kellie has too many options she tends to over sub and we never get in a rhythm.

That game was so confusing though. Edie Darby played 6 minutes for crying out loud I could not figure out what she was doing. It was so maddening.

TK also only gave us 7 minutes in that game and they weren’t a very good 7 if I recall. She was struggling.

Karo should have played the majority of the minutes at the 5 she is a good matchup for Holmes and Powell should have been starting from the beginning. I think Wells should have been the player coming off the bench until she proved herself at an SEC level.
