It may take a while for Ralph to rebuild that program. Obviously she's going to have to hope she can snag a few top recruits soon, but it's not going to be easy. I'll be curious to hear what her recruiting methods are. Taurasi already sent a shout-out to Vandy on national TV during the WNBA finals, so I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Taurasi and Bird and other Huskies "just happen to be visiting their longtime friend" during key recruit's visits. They can tell recruits if they had a daughter and she wanted to play basketball in the South, they'd want their daughter to play for Shea. It may take a lot that kind of help to get Vandy back to winning consistently like they did for most of Balcomb's years there.
The good news for Ralph is that I don't think it would be against NCAA rules for Huskies to recruit for Vandy like it has been for years in how big an illegal role DT and Bird have played in actively recruiting kids to Storrs. We'll see.
“…illegal role DT and Bird have played in actively recruiting kids to Storrs.” A proven lie originally introduced from the 38 (?) page, concocted, Tennessee initiated, SEC driven report that was proven baseless. Isn’t it time for this to stop ?
Tough news for South Carolina, an injury that could very well tip the balance in UConn's favor this season...

I don't know. It's saying something about SC's depth, when you can lose the #2 recruit for the season, and it may not factor in much at all. Time will tell, but I see it as much more of a blow to grooming her for next season. I would not have expected her to play much in any big/close matchups especially early in the season unless Henderson/Cooke get into foul trouble.
Zero surprise re: Poffenberger. She can see Bueckers, Fudd, Ducharme, Muhland Patterson ahead of her on the depth chart next year and that doesn't include this year with Westbrook/Williams still there. She's likely looking for a school to transfer to for the 2nd semester...maybe with a chance to play this year. Her other finalists were Oregon, Maryland, Missouri, Tennessee and Oklahoma...so maybe she'll give the LVs another look.
I'm more surprised by the fact that Mir McLean has decided to waste yet another year of college eligibility as a Husky cheerleader.
Blueuconn go back to your kennell please. Of course you would say that bc ESPN and the NCAA loves Conn so you will believe whatever they say but let Parker , Holdsclaw or Catchings meet a recruit on a visit or company them to ESPN studios then im sure you and your doggie treats will have shh all up your nose.“…illegal role DT and Bird have played in actively recruiting kids to Storrs.” A proven lie originally introduced from the 38 (?) page, concocted, Tennessee initiated, SEC driven report that was proven baseless. Mir was a HS all American who will likely never play meaningful minutes as Geno continues to attract superstar guards and wings. If she's content in pursuing non basketball career options, good on her for staying. If she has dreams of a pro career, she will not achieve that when her only observable skill is giving high fives up and down the bench after Azzi or Paige hits a three. Just saying'...Not surprised either, however an article printed today quoting mom as saying it wasn't all basketball as the reason for her leaving. She says her daughter didn't find the academics at UConn challenging (WHAT freshman course of study is??), and that she didn't have the chance or time to "get out and socialize" there. Damn....she was living in the pastures of an Agriculture school where basketball players live, eat and sleep basketball. That's why they go there. Oh well...my gut is that mom was a bit perturbed that her superstar was a cheerleader. I sure hope she finds a place that fits. She certainly can enroll in classes at another school for the spring semester, however, she cannot play in games until the Fall of 2022. Vanderbilt seems like the likely team she will land at. Close to home, urban setting, Ivy league academics, and Shea Ralph (UConn) did recruit her. Yep..that's my prediction.
As for Mir, wasting her time on the bench is a stretch. The bench practices just as hard, expectation are just as tough at UConn for them. What they learn there is priceless. She will have her time on the floor, but I wouldn't be shocked if she consider leaving, but I don't think she will. Time will tell. Kyla Irwin was hardly ever used and loved her time there. She is now an assistant at Vandy. Camara Batouley speaks very highly of what she learned about living and giving back while sitting that bench. She has authored a few books and is an internationl example of supporting girls in sports in several countries under her own non-profit organization and is well respected. Meg Walker pretty much sat the bench for two years. Her other 3 classmates opted to leave and did absolutely nothing in the world of basketball or anywhere else. Examples of excellence are focused on in many ways and don't always become basketball dreams. As a coaching staff, it is your job to mold lives into the best and most successful PEOPLE these athletes can be. The rest will follow. Those that understand this, stay.

I love on the Boneyard how there was the post talking about Raven's injury, and one person commented that this means that UConn's recruiting class should now be ranked higher than SC's. In defense of the Boneyard, everyone quickly pointed out how inappropriate that comment was.But UConn lost Poffenbarger to the portal, so that balances it out......
Like I said...good on Mir if she's happy being a cheerleader and decided she doesn't want to pursue a chance at the WNBA. Seems a bit early to give up since she was a much more highly sought after recruit compared to Kyla or Camara.Well, @Amb3096, maybe not the WNBA, unless she gets some playing time for the next two years, and I believe she will, but both Kyla Irwin and Camara Batouli play/played overseas. So there is much to be said about what they learn in Storrs. She is part of this team, deeply committed to the core of how it works. I truly hope she stays. I think this recent pic says it all. She is engaged, loving being a part of this team unlike Poffenbarger, who, in the back of the photo seems totally withdrawn from them. Patience is lacking in many, many supposed superstars entering college. I will never understand players that spend their whole life dreaming of playing for Geno, Pat, Dawn, Tara, get there and because it's tough, because they AREN'T a superstar among the nations finest, they pack their bags. Mir just doesn't seem like that person. I'm keeping an eye on DeBerry....I'm not convinced she's comfortable. We will see.
