Looks now like we may see Zaay Green this season as she got a waiver approved to play. We'll see if she is in their future games or waits until next season.

Massey Ratings - College Basketball Women's : NCAA D1 Ratings

Massey moves Texas up to number two in the nation and Arizona to number three. They drop Stanford to five and UConn to sixth. They are now making Texas a seven point favorite in our game which I can agree with considering our offensive woes.

Only 7? It's a compliment, IMO, that Massey calculates their #2 team in the country is only 7 points better than Tennessee.

If the Lady Vols can break the mental barrier that has them missing too many makable shots AND continues to play good D, they very well could score a huge upset Saturday. I honestly do expect the floodgates to open soon, and then suddenly people will be wondering what in the world happened that they are now shooting a higher percentage. I have faith they'll relax and the shots will start falling once one or two people break through.

Making shots is contagious, and soon our Lady Vols are going to come down with a glorious case of Nothing But Nylon Flu. :D I've officially put this out into the universe now, so it's gonna happen, people.

I always feel good about the home court and think we can play within a few points of anybody. We were able to do that last season and hope we can do it again this season.

I second your comments. Perhaps, the LVs will come down with "Nothing But Nylon Flu" in the upcoming Texas game. GBO.

On Bueker’s 15-19 performance:

By the end of No. 2 UConn's 95-80 victory over the Razorbacks (who handed the Huskies their sole loss during the 2020-21 regular season), Bueckers had more than given the fans something to cheer for. She scored a career-high 34 points and matched Kerry Bascom's record from 1989 for points in a season opener. Shooting 15-for-19, she became the third UConn player in the past 20 seasons to score 30 or more points on 75% or better shooting in the season debut. Her performance marked the most points by a UConn player without a 3-pointer since Tina Charles in 2010.
Bueckers was seemingly everywhere on the court throughout the game, and when she had the ball, she was nearly flawless. She didn't record a single turnover.
"I just kind of took what the defense was giving me, and my teammates got me open," Bueckers said after the game. "They passed me the ball really well. I kind of read what the game needed and I felt like my shot was going in. I felt good. It was just rhythm.”

I watched the Texas-SE Missouri St. game today. Texas plays a lot of underclassmen. They had the same problem this game that we have in general, they can't make layups at a respectable rate. Texas was under 50% on layups and they took a lot of them.

Yep, they had the same problem against Stanford. They had trouble finishing at the rim which surprised me. If not for Harmon and Matharu hitting long jumpers they would not have won that game.

I expect it to be a defensive battle and truly believe we can come out on top. Betting it’s less than 5 point margin of victory and a game in the 60s for both teams. They’re as young as we are or younger, particularly inside. Ebo is much slower than our post players. He started her today and I suspect that is because he plans to start her Sunday against us to defend Tamari. If the game is called like it was last Sunday I would love it. Half the Texas team will foul out in the first half.

If Tamari can play smart and stay on the floor it will really foul up their dribble drive offense. It’s very difficult to score in the paint against us and that is their bread and butter. If you’d have told me Texas was going to beat Stanford because of their outside shooting I’d have called you crazy, but that’s what happened.

They have 4 legit players off the bench, and starting 5 is productive at each spot. Vic S is a great coach, expect their best shot when you play them, he is aware they are coming to the SEC and he will put his best foot fwd vs UT.

Tenn has to make it a defensive battle and shorten the game without RB, Vic likely to try fast breaking most of the game to counter Tenn’s set defense. He is running a fast transition offense now like Staley runs, who absolutely makes that her identity on offense early each season before she slowly moves the focus to the post by the conference tournament.

For SC that means the guards lead in shot attempts until the move is made, and Texas will be like that early, maybe all year, guards will lead the offense.
Come tourney time, the players taking a higher % of shots for SC will be the bigs. It’s the pattern.

Texas was 50% from the floor and 3/10 from deep, so they were 53% from 2pt line.

I watched one of Watkins game during AAU season and tbh I wasn’t impressed she tried to duck in that game and missed but their point guard taniya Latson was a bit of a ball hog and she didn’t get many touches I remember Kellie was their scouting
