He could only have 5 available players, and he'd probably still bench Mir.

In all seriousness, she was never going to play as long as he had someone else on the bench he could put in instead. I doubt he's the least bit upset about her leaving. She was nothing but an overqualified cheerleader as long as she stayed at UConn.

That's what I think. She's gonna do well at her next school as long as she doesn't have a bunch of top 10 players ahead of her in the rotation. UConn was too loaded at her position for her to have ever stood a chance.

You could probably say that for a lot of players, but UConn seems to have more than their share. Williams number one no, Ododa 5 no, Durcharme? not looking like a top ten. Westbrooks was not a number two at Tennessee or there either. Megan Walker was not a number one either. The players he has out are his best players that is why he is so frantic these days.

Walker as a junior was a first team All American. She only had one productive season, but the talent was there.

Williams was one of the best players in a mediocre class. When she's on, she's elite and you can see why she was so highly rated, but she's plagued by inconsistency. Evina looks fine. ONO was more like top 20 vs top 5. Ducharme will probably be really good next year.

I don't think the rankings were wrong, she is very talented. She fell into the belief that she would be used exactly like the undersized Gabby Williams (Mir is very similar in her style of play as well as physical attributes) and it never happened. Many tried to get her to rethink prior to committing but she was stuck on the opportunity to play there for Geno in that capacity the moment it was offered. Having watched her play for years, I hope she makes the right choice this time around and truly go somewhere that she will be utilized even though she is a very undersized 4 who can play some 3 in a pinch.

She isn't the only one who doesn't know the plays, he admitted that the girl from Ohio State didn't get how he was using her and told him how to best utilize her. We will soon find out (imo) that Shea Ralph was the mastermind behind a lot of his success now that she is gone.

Mir was like Gabby Williams minus the outstanding court vision and physical strength. Gabby played like she was 6'4: Mir played like her height.

I'm loving watching UConn hit a massive speed bump this season as much as anyone else, but that's a stretch. He won 5 NCs without Shea on his bench. Stewart x4 and Maya Moorex2 had more to do with the remaining NCs than Ralph.

Mir played like she was 6'4" in high school, I don't think she had the same opportunities to show what she can do playing there. 21 and 12 a game is nothing to sneeze at when going up against the likes of Angel Reese.

I didn't think the Williams class was mediocre it had Smith the real number one, Collier, Austin, Henderson, and Howard to name a few all better than Williams. Walker ended up being around the lower part of top 20 as one season does not a player make, Evina top 20 not number two, Ono wouldn't be in my top 20 if Key is number 47. Durcharme been a brick thrower thus far guess she could improve. He does have a real number one that is injured and another that could be hasn't played enough.

They were real number one dominant players and had many other excellent players as teammates. Where he hit his lag starting in 2016 was when he started getting number ones that really weren't the real deal. He did get another last season tough break for her and the team she is injured and if she can come back they become a real threat again especially if Fudd proves out as well.

Stewie doesn't win 4 without Morgan Tuck and Mo Jefferson, nor does Maya win them without Renee and Tina. It's easier to win when who you get all the best talent. But when you start to recruit talent that doesn't fit your style of play just to ensure other programs don't have them, you end up going 6 years without a title. Let's see what he does now. For someone who is one of the best to coach the game, he sure had stretches against UCLA and Georgia Tech where he was lost.
