Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

NCAA D-1 softball championships have been played in Oklahoma City for the last 31 years. Oklahoma has won it 5 times. Arizona has won 8 and UCLA 7.
There was a time when no one could beat a Pac 12 team even if they played it on the moon. Those teams were so dominant no one could touch them. I think they should move it around for fans of other schools to have a chance to go to games some people can't travel great distances that support their teams locally. Regardless if all the teams and schools are ok with it guess it will be the home for now on.

It’s the SEC. It’s gonna be about the money 💰

What money? Every single WCBB program in the SEC loses money year after year after year. This reminds me of the argument for profit-sharing for the NCAA women's tournament. How does one share a profit that does not exist? Do the 64 teams (this year 68 teams) equally share the NCAA's $2.5 million loss?

I wonder if that loss is before or after the NCAA and conferences get their taste?

Duke mounting a comeback. They've cut the lead to 9 and just blew an uncontested layup; otherwise, the lead would only be 7. BC coach finally took a time out.

Why not? The tourneys are a week apart.

Best SEC tourneys EVER was the run in the late 90s early 2000s at the Roundhouse in Chattanooga. Of course it was crazy partisan for the LVs but it was SO much fun! I like an arena of around 15K for these where its crowded, close, and fun in the later rounds. I went to one of the first ones at Bridgestone and it was kinda empty and big.
Chattanooga is a great locale, but The Roundhouse or McKenzie Arena or whatever they’re calling it now is a horrible arena. It holds barely 11,000, and the majority of the seating is in the upper level. The SEC will never return to Chattanooga unless they build a better facility.

Don't care, it was great! Of course the LVs rampaged thru the tourney every year, once beat Vandy by 50 there. 99% of the crowd was rabid LV. Seating? What seating? Those were the days.

Missouri and Texas A&M have a strong fanbase so did Mississippi State

But why would they want to have it in a place where the teams closest to the venue aren’t very good? What benefit would there be to having it in Texas? The only team that might truthfully make it to at least the semi’s is LSU which would be relatively close. These cities want to make money. They want people coming for a few days. In Texas there may be very few fans at the final. Greenville is a relatively short ride for Tenn, SC, GA, and now FLA. I know SC has a ton of fans coming to Nashville who probably wouldn’t go to Texas. Tennessee and SC fans should be on the same page wanting the tournament to STAY on this side of the universe.

No one seems to mind that the SEC football championship is always in Atlanta and that the baseball tourney is in Hoover, Alabama. Nashville gets the men's basketball tourney through 2035.

LV fans must like Greenville as there's always a sea of orange at Bon Secours.

Fudd wasn't hurt and she played 10 minutes. took one shot and missed. Ducharme didn't play. Both were/are freshman and it was only the 4th game of the season. Since then both players are averaging better than 12ppg. Rivers and Hall are averaging 2.6 ppg so that advantage goes to UConn.
The difference is SC doesn’t need more from Rivers and Hall. UConn is dependent on their freshmen for sure.

Why do you say no one I mind that they do it that way. Just commented about the softball always being at Oklahoma and baseball in Alabama. I don't like it in any sport at anytime and it is not a bias against any SEC school. I am fine with it being in Greenville next season, but having it there three straight seasons is what I don't like and just as I don't like any sport doing it. There is no way fans of schools like Texas A&M or other western SEC schools can go in large numbers. It certainly doesn't affect Tennessee and the Eastern schools. Holding it in Tennessee 17 times is ridiculous to me as is 13 times in Georgia. The Big East is even worse don't think it has ever been out of Connecticut.

Texas A&M won the conference last season would have been great to have it there last season. Why does how good a team is come into play. They all have fans and I suspect every third or fourth year they would like the tourney held close enough that a large number of their fans could go. We know it is about money what isn't and that is why they will never hold it fairly in various locations. To add Alabama sucks at baseball but that doesn't keep it out of Hoover every season. Nebraska is terrible at baseball but they hold baseball championships there every season. It is about money sadly what everyone thinks about and dreams about every day of their lives.

Two games coming up at 12 eastern before our game are Louisville at Notre Dame. I think we need Louisville to win as Notre Dame is infringing on our getting into the top sixteen. Also Missouri at Florida would love Missouri to win there. Hopefully all their players are back from suspension.

I think you will be pleased with the Notre Dame-Louisville outcome. If not, Louisville is not as good as most people think they are.

Louisville leads 27-3 with a minute left in the 1st. Louisville shooting 83% including 7-7 on 3s. ND shooting 9%. That won't last but the hole might be too deep for ND.
