Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

I’m sure she’s good. But rare is the player that can transition as quickly from Hs to college with little prep time, especially on a deep team at her position like SC
She has been playing with or against players like Rice and Barker on elite circuit and Team USA where she excelled. Those players are already starting in college, so maybe she is ready. She turned 18 in August. Either way, she will be 21 in August of 2025, so she knows what she is doing as far as her college career and WNBA goals. She might be thinking 2.5 seasons at SC then going pro, just speculation on my part, maybe 3.5 seasons more likely. This would obviously be the .5 year either way.

Counting this year, she likely has expressed her goals and desires to Staley, I would think this half season plus three more for her is their plan.

Beautiful stroke. Is she a wing or PF? Seems like she needs to put in some mass.
Wing all the way. She has a nice inside game when she drives to the hoop, but as a shooter she often uses her quick pull up jumper in the middle of a drive also. She has some range but her game is not built around the 3 pt. shot, though she is pretty good from there as well. It’s her midrange shot and inside moves she uses most often….she can stop and pop or finish the drive.

I don’t know what role she will play this year, how many minutes she will get or how she adjusts to the college game tbh, but it is my belief from Staley’s comments they will play her and get her experience this season, Dawn said she won’t just ride the bench. Part of the 3.5 year plan likely, get her feet wet this year and then have her for 3 more, that gets her to the league a year earlier if that is her goal.

Last note on her….her dad is heavily involved in her training and has been since she was 5, he stated that they did this intentionally to get her into a super competitive environment which she needed to grow as a BB player and he said the portal would never be an option for her based on playing time, they are confident she will use this experience to grow her skills and excell…they are not looking for a free ride to PT at a school.

LV fans know I am a big SC WBB fan, and my fav player is Boston on this team, followed closely by Bree Hall (I like her game, just as I do Pucketts game for sophomores), but next year, I may be saying Hall and Kitts are my favorites. Hard not to include Watkins here as well, or Feagin, and potentially Fulwiley next year as well, but I do love some smooth shooting and Hall and Kitts do that nicely. Bree Hall will break out next year, I have no doubts there.

Hall is one of my favorite non Lady Vol players! Love her game and composure.

The player to watch in that group Tessa Johnson can flat out play a shoot the rock
She better be ready to drain shots right away or she will have to wait her time….she is a great shooter though, can’t imagine her struggling on offense, but Staley demands great defense as well to play and some need a few years to learn that side.

Nice line up, but I’m putting my money on UCONN next year if everyone is healthy.
I might agree here, Paige is that good. SC will still have the front court advantage, but a healthy Paige and Azzi makes that the best backcourt, what a game that will be.

UConn will be good, but they are still questionable at the C position. They will live and die by how well Paige and Azzi are shooting the ball.

I think it's safe to say that those two teams plus Stanford will be the overwhelming favorites going into the season as rosters/recruits stand today. Portal may change things, but I think these three teams probably won't see much if any turnover.

You can watch SC play at 7 tonight on ESPN2, will be interesting to see if Kitts makes an appearance. I’ll be watching of course.

The turnover will happen, at SC for example Fletcher and Saxton are done. Boston and Cooke likely moving on to WNBA, maybe/likely Amihere and Beal also. Turnover gonna happen.

SDST did not play great either. 9% from the three and 27% overall will win you zero ball games. plus 19 turnovers.
It’s the SC defense, it smothers teams. SC played like crap offensively though and the Jackrabbits played spirited ball, they were fun to watch compete. SC is really bad on the perimeter this year so far, no getting around that.

Didn’t they play a great game. Earlier this year? 😉
Jackrabbits beat Louisville and Kansas State this year, both ranked at the time. The Jackrabbits always knock of some ranked teams, they have been to the tourney 10 of last 14 years and though they missed the tourney last year, they won the WNIT. Easy team to pull for Chuck. I’m a fan of them just because of their situation and how well they always compete.
