Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Random thought. Thinking of that 2018 class of Zaay Green, Mimi, Collins, Jasmine Massengill, and Rae Burrell. The only highly successful one out of the class was the only non-All-American that stuck it out at Tennessee. The rest are still playing college basketball with multiple transfers under their belt and none will likely be drafted to the WNBA this upcoming season. Crazy how hard work, commitment, and loyalty works isn't it?

They all would have been better off to stay at TN. Massengill is the one who broke my heart!

The Maui tournament is free for anyone to watch, no Flo sports. Granted it wasn't great quality but it was free.

Watched both Oregon St and LSU games.

Oregon St's Talia von Oelhoffen was extremely impressive scoring over 40 points in their win over Nevada. I couldn't believe how they refused to just not defend her, so she continued to score at will. Their freshmen Beers was also impressive inside for them. The bad, they allowed Nevada to score over 80 points.... and their posts struggled mightily inside defending without fouling which they can't do vs Reese tomorrow.

LSU looked good and did what they should on paper. Reese was good as always, but their freshmen Flaujae and Sa'Myah Smith were just as impressive as anyone on the court. Smith's stats don't always reflect it but defensively she causes so many issues with her length. Not much bad in this game for LSU, it was pretty complete game minus the sloppy turnovers. I did feel they got lazy offensively at times, not much ball movement or movement off the ball.

I look forward to tomorrows matchup between Oregon St vs LSU. In addition to all the wonderful games tomorrow. Its going to be a PACKED day.

Latson IMO will win freshmen of the year if she is able to get through the season without injury. Unfortunately she fouled out 6 minutes left in the 4th. Could have been avoided if she didn't have that bad reach in foul far away from the basket.

Tessa Johnson just broke the Minnesota HS 37 year-old single game scoring record AND the single game made 3 point shots. She finished the game with 51 points on 18/32 shooting and 9 of 15 from behind the arc. Johnson also had 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals.

Arizona is pounding Baylor right now, up by 12 at the half despite a few late 3's by Baylor.
In front of several dozen of their nearest and dearest. The attendance for WBB continues to plummet, and that includes the LVs. We still draw far more than other schools, but attendance has been noticably down so far this season.

Baylor got those two big transfers and neither one is playing... Edwards hasn't played all year i do believe

Edwards had academic issues her entire time at Kentucky. If that is sorted out I would expect her to play after the Christmas break.

If she doesn’t that is likely it for her playing career.
