The rest of her tenure at Cal was making it to the 2nd round and getting beat. Looking at her tourney record, she actually regressed over time there.

For now I’ll call her overrated. If JuJu doesn’t play next year and they make the E8 or FF I’ll be impressed.

Syracuse and WCBB…they haven’t done anything right for that program in at least 20 years. Q was a firecracker that lasted briefly. Current coach alone and adrift.

I know, it’s sad. I live in the area so I’m a season ticket holder (mostly to support the athletes and also because it gives me something to do during winter). They just don’t care about the WBB program at all up here. Zero support from the school and community.

Sienna Betts looks the part of a star player. So does Jazzy Davidson. And I believe McDowell does also, she is likely the 3rd best in that class or close to it. Chavez is not top 5 imo when all is said and done. It’s just a feeling I have about her game. Oklahoma likely spent big on her though so she will have a very long leash to say the least. Will be interesting to watch this class play out.

Yeah, I remember that. I wasn’t sure what you meant. I actually posted in here earlier in the season super pissed off about it.

However, since then, I’ve reflected on it and decided that, although Coach Jack could have expressed herself much more eloquently, she was kinda right. WBB really doesn’t get much support from the general Syracuse fan base and most people here really don’t care. Coach Jack is a Syracuse native, played for SU, and has a close connection with her players. Obviously she is very passionate about SU and the community. I think she was frustrated and rightly so, but she could have found a better way to say it.

She knew what the situation was when she was hired not so long ago, and she knew it was her job to change that level of support. She failed miserably by attacking the base she needs most to accomplish the needed change. She is highly unlikeable, especially but not exclusively for F bombing the fan base. She is one level too high for her pay grade and it is just a matter of time. Some people never really see the big picture and she is amongst those ranks. It won’t bite you at a small school, but it never flies at the P4 level for long.

But you forget Chuckie, it also requires a little thing often referred to as truth. You don’t F bomb the fan base and administration and expect swelling support as a result. She isn’t working with a full deck at this level, the pressure broke her. I don’t care that she is a grad, she isn’t the right coach to build that program, period.

Ironically, more people started showing up after she made those comments. CNY is a funny place. But I agree, it IS up to the coach to get the program up to a standard where people want to come see you play.

The school is never going to throw NIL at the program though, regardless of who the coach is. WBB is very low priority. That’s the biggest hurdle for that program.

Also to be frank at the end of the day I’m not going to be crying into my Cheerios if they fired Coach Jack tomorrow. Even if she was sweet as pie, I don’t think she’s been able to build the program at all since Fair left. This season they looked downright awful most games. And that’s on the coaching staff 100%. I just don’t feel as hot about the comments as I did before.

It’s the same at every school in America, you bring in the right coach who wins, and your support shows up fast. You lose and also F Bomb the fan base and your days are numbered already. She doesn’t get that basic tenant. She thinks the community and admin are holding her back, what a weak and ill informed coach.

You are right. I don’t think the powers that be at SU care about the coaching hires for WBB. If all that stuff hadn’t come out about Q, he’d still be here today, languishing in mediocrity and resting on one time laurels.

I’m looking at attendance numbers for SU, they didn’t move up after that presser. The conference games were always going to outdraw the non conference games, but look at their attendance numbers for all games throughout the year, dismal.

The impression I get is that these attendance numbers ar often BS, in that they only care about tickets sold? So it's entirely possible that the number of tickets sold were comparable, but a higher % of the ticket holders actually showed up on gameday after that presser.

Our perception can be flawed ofc, but I would trust your perspectiv over the official numbers.
