Non-Lady Vol Game discussion

How dose a team like Florida State Seminoles, shoot 19/68 for 27.9% , 3/13 on the three for 23.1%, score a total of 50 points and beat the # 2 team Louisville.

FSU has a really good coach and is the second-best team in the AAC. If he can do a little better with his recruiting this coach is one to watch because he is that good. Give him some players and he will produce a top team, IMO

One other thing . . . . they scored 1 point more:)

Give who some players? Jeff Walz? He’s had star players, including Angel McCoughtry and Shoni Schimmel, the top two all-time Louisville scorers. He’s coached his team to two national title games (2009 & 2013).

Sue Semrau coaches FSU.

Here are some comparative starting 5's + bench players who got big minutes.

Player rankings by HoopGurlz-
Louisville:
Myisha Hines Allen- 34
Asia Durr- 02
Arica Carter- 77
Jazmine Jones- 43
Sam Fuehring- 61

Florida State:
Shakayla Thomas- 11
Ama Degbeon- INTERNATIONAL
AJ Alix- 48
Nicole Ekhomu- 21
Imani Wright- 31

Other FSU players having more than 20 minutes in this game:
Chatrice White- 27
Nausia Woolfolk- 57

only 'Les" comment I remember making is the one about the gang of women Olympians on the bball team not wanting Candace Parker on the team because she isn't.

Still believe that was the reason.

Neither Angel nor Shoni were HS McD AAs. They became stars while playing for Louisville. I think Durr may have been Walz's first top 5 HS player, and I can't think of many top 10 players he had before her.

Could you be confusing FSU with USF?
The latter has a fine coach, and is in the AAC.
FSU also has a fine coach, but isn't in the same conference as UConn.

Everyone on here has a right to a opinion and my opinion on this topic is i dont think Conn is that good now or will be in the future.

Well, you are right. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but not their facts. . .
When I read read you comment I thought you might be right. I haven't heard so much about UCon blowing out teams this year. So I checked their schedule so far.

Stanford by 25 (neutral court)
California by 35 (home)
Maryland by 25 (home)
UCLA by 18 (away)
Mich State by 34 (neutral court)
Nevada by 31 (away)
Notre Dame by 9 (home)
Depaul by 34 (away)
Okla by (24) (neutral court)
Duquesne by 52 (neutral court)

ok I stopped at 10. I'll grant you wins in their magnificent conference may not count for much but I wouldn't bet against them when they play Louisville and USC.

Exactly who do you think can beat them?

I think you are wrong on this point and are insulting CP. CP has the right to be anything she wants and using it to benefit making your point is wrong, especially when you are also wrong about CP.

How is the poster is exactly wrong? I don’t know nor care if she is or isn’t but I am just curious. She is and will always be one of my favorites!

Yeah i dont disagree that they will be top contender going into the Ncaa tourney but somewhere down the line having a weak conference is going to hurt them. Sure they may very well beat Louv and SC but not yet this year have they played a tourney type stretch of games that will test their endurance. But one can argue they have that in practice which is true. The only reason they are ranked like they are is because of their schedule. yes they play some big names but look at the games they have to prepare for those games.

Not saying one team is better than the other but what do you think would be Conns record with UTs schedule?

Probably the same. UConn has played a tougher schedule than either UT or Louisville.

Ill give you that probably the same seeing they will have played 4 possible Final 4 contenders IF they get pass SC and Louvlle but looking at our schedule do they go undefeated with playing 3 top Final 4 contenders in ND, SC, and MissSt? be honest now.

According to Massey, UCONN has the #1 SOS, Tennessee is #6. Link: Massey Ratings - CBW

Logically, UCONN would have a better record than they do now if they played an easier (Tennessee's) schedule.

When UCONN played Notre Dame, Lili Thompson was in the game. She didn't play against Tennessee.

When UCONN played Texas, Joyner Holmes was in the game. She didn't play against Tennessee.

When UCONN plays South Carolina next week, Wilson is expected to play. She didn't play against Tennessee.

Is your question suggesting that Tennessee has a tougher schedule this year? Massey ranks Alabama State at #681, Troy at #321, and Long Beach State at #526.

Yes, because they are still better. They already beat ND, will likely beat SC and I think that UConn's wings will create much more problems for MSST offensively and defensively than Tennessee ever could.

As bad as UConns bench has purportedly been playing, their top 6 are all playing like legit All-American candidates.

True but unlike UConn, Tennessee also played the current #2 team in the country.... which also happens to be the only team to beat UConn in the last two and a half seasons. Maybe UConn would still be undefeated, maybe not, but you could make a strong argument MSU would have the best chance of anyone to beat them again....

No my question is not suggesting that although the way both teams are scheduled favors Conn having their most challenging games spread in bewteen the weaker games. Joyner hasnt played all year and was out of shape, Lili although good she wasnt a a missing factor against us we just had a major meltdown. I believe Conn has 10 ranked opponents to our 9 but none that they had to play 4 straight. Anyway all that matters is winning it all.
