Non-Lady Vol Game discussion

I was watching the half time show for the MSU and Missouri game. Andy Landers and the crew were talking about the projected top 16 this week for the upcoming NCCA tournament. Tennessee fell the most of any team and rightly so.

Andy just said teams like Georgia and LSU are playing very near the full potential, unlike a couple of SEC teams not yet playing to the talent on the roster. We know Tennessee is one of the teams. The truth is the truth.

Hopefully we will gel and make a good run the rest of the season.

I hope the LV's can gel and finish 24-5. This is much better than last year's record of 19-10. With luck, they can get to the final four. Call me Pollyanna.

Connecticut is humiliating South Carolina. It's a beatdown of epic proportion.

I haven't seen them play until tonight. A'ja Wilson said it best:
“They’re still UConn,” South Carolina star A’ja Wilson said. “It is what it is.”

They are one disiplined team. . .

Kierstan Bell 6’1” guard from Ohio. 2019 rated #4

Will comitt after this spring AAU season. UCLA, Minnesota, North and South Carolina, Rutgers, She wants to take her time and enjoy her visits!

(No mention of Tennessee)???

who thinks usc beats msu tonight?

SC off to a quick start. I didn't see the UConn game, but I wonder if this is MSU playing poorly or if the gap between #1 and #2 is bigger than I thought it was...

What’s the score Amb?

29-28 to MSU at the half. They were down 12 in the first quarter. Vivians took over in the 2nd q, but she's doing everything off isolations and taking her player off the dribble. SC has shut McCowan down and she's scoreless. They're lucky to be ahead with zero offense from her.

Vivians with 20 pts and Aja 18 points just in the first half. Impressive showing by both.

Florida playing Missouri tough. They only have 7 players due to injury. The team is playing hard for the young coach.

Looks like MSU is gonna pull this out. 59-52 with a minute and a half, with FTs to go.

67-53 to Miss State. That was an impressive defensive effort. McCowan controlled the boards with 20 rebounds, and their backup PG was excellent on defense and running the offense. They didn't play Morgan for most of the 2nd half because Holmes was so good.

They are a very disciplined team. There were matchup problems tonight, but they adjusted well. I'm curious to see how they can matchup vs UConn.

On a side note, this was an important game for Tennessee with regards to SEC standings. MSU is pretty much a lock to win the regular season, but #2 is still up for grabs as long as Tennessee takes care of business in their end. If they win out, they should finish no further than #3. Games vs UGA, Mizzou and SC will be key, and they can't look past Florida and (God forbid) Alabama.

SC had no answer for MSU's bigs. No surprise there. One player (Wilson) can not beat a good team. The results as noted above only help us.

2 seniors, and a junior who can't make layups, and three freshman are not living up to their talent level? Okay please name a team in the country with comparable talent doing better please. Remember 4 of our top 7 players have never played on the road prior to this year at anywhere near this level

Miss State has less talent and they are unbeaten.

Any coach in America would take Tennessee's roster over MSU's at the start of the season.

Mississippi State's roster of players would be chosen because of Victoria Vivian's scoring ability, especially her ability to consistently make 3 pointers. Vivians is a better shooter than any player on the Tennessee roster.

It was a bonus for MSU last night against SC for the backup point guard to step up and play well.

McCowan and Vivians have turned out better than their Tennessee counterparts this season, but would anyone have said the same thing before the season started? Vivians has been dismissed as a bricklaying volume shooter for 3 years on this board, and most everyone was saying Nared was better. No one was predicting what McCowan would become either. Didn't McCowan want to play for Tennessee but wasn't offered?

Also worth noting that neither of them were top 20 recruits, and most of the roster is comprised of lightly recruited unranked players, outside of those two and Johnson.

She played the majority of the NC game. She would start for most any other schools. She is really good at running the offense and a very good defensive player too. She had more assists as a 12-15 minute per game player than many starting PGs in the top 25.
