Non-Lady Vol Game discussion

If Baylor gets fully healthy they are the best team in the country after UConn. If they win out through the conference tournament they absolutely deserve a 1 seed.....

Their resume says otherwise. Mulkey needs to play more than 4 good teams a season. Then she can get past the E8.

Mulkey has two National Championships. Louisville or ND will have at least one more loss. If Baylor goes through the Big 12 undefeated, they should get it....

I'm aware of her NCs. My point was that if she tested her teams more often she could have gone further in recent years. I'm just repeating what the committee says is important. If they committee flip flops on what they said was important thats on them. The B12 isn't as good as the ACC and Baylor should not be rewarded w/ a #1 if they don't comply w/ the metrics.

People complained in years past about the committee making decisions on "feelings", now they have a standard. Notre Dame's beaten down team has done an amazing job and their resume just looks better. The graphic they showed in the game proved it. ND has what 13 top 50 rpi wins and Baylor had 4? C'mon, how is this an argument?

And my point is she has proven she can win a championship, more than once, so I would defer to her judgment when evaluating how tough their schedule should be. Tennessee generally plays a tough non conference schedule every year, how is that working out in helping them reach the Final Four?

Because conference championships matter too. If Notre Dame wins their tournament and avenges that unsightly 33 point loss on their resume they will get a #1 seed....

1. Massey disagrees with you:

Massey Conference Rankings | The Boneyard

1. Big 12- 10 teams (83-28)
2. SEC- 14 teams (138-45)
3. ACC- 15 teams (152-45)
4. Pac 12- 12 teams (97-39)
5. Big 10- 14 teams (135-52)
6. Big East- 10 teams (72-39)
7. AAC- 12 teams (97-62)
8. MAC West-6 teams (77-39)

2. Notre Dame has a 33 point loss to their (dis)credit this season. No team with a 33 point loss on their resume should ever be considered for a #1 seed. Ever.

No worries she will try and schedule everyone next year with the #1 recruiting class coming in🤔 she actually had a bit of returners coming back I was surprised... some may have been sophomores but talented ones.

Again it's the committee who decides, but you are flip flopping between Sargarin and Massey? Why aren't you quoting the committee? You see the problem here? If they meet what the committee wants they get the #1. If they don't they won't.

Fair enough. We can agree to disagree. I am of the mindset that WCBB is unique in that most of the top coaches and up & coming coaches and recruiters like to schedule tough OOC. It has done wonders for Texas & UCLA. They brought in good talent and immediately began putting them through the ringer with hard games. Yeah it meant more losses but it also probably put more butts in the seats.

You saw the same with South Carolina as they began to rise. 4 years ago no one even knew who they were. You are starting to see the same with Oregon and I would guess there are a few other teams out there I am missing but I digress because you are right. She knows exactly what she is doing. I whole heartedly respect what Tennessee does in OOC play year in and year out because they don't have to. That, in part, is what makes it great.

To borrow some data from a fellow BYer: Here are the teams that Baylor played in OOC with their current RPI (2/18) next to them, Lamar (108), Coppin St (299), Central Arkansas (119), UCLA (9), Missouri St (99), Georgia Tech (66), Kentucky (96), Standford (14), North Dakota (174), McNeese (266), and Nicholls (242). I think the committee is saying... you can do a little better than that Baylor. You've got the pedigree.

Because conference championships matter too. If Notre Dame wins their tournament and avenges that unsightly 33 point loss on their resume they will get a #1 seed....
How many conference championships has Baylor won in say the last 5 years? Did all of them result in a #1 seed? Historically speaking does this year in someway look similar to a previous year where you believe that is the case, or just a hunch?

Welp, Kristy Wallace leaves tonight's game against West Virginia with a knee injury that looked pretty bad.

So much for UConn's top competition....

I love to watch her play. She is a very competitive player. I was thinking Baylor had a shot at UCONN before this happened.

Kristy Wallace has torn right ACL

That’s a big blow... she was really good at getting the post the ball or knowing when to push or set up in the half court. Mulkey will have to rely heavy on Alexis Morris who is super talented but as we have seen relying on freshman can you get you really high or really low. Their other perimeter players are also freshman and sophomores.

I agree but the difference is a will be Mulkey will not allow Alexis Morris to keep turning the ball over like Westbrook and Hayes, Mulkey will grill her on the court face to face and pull her out of the game. This is something Holly will never do.

Should be to entertaining finals today.

Louisville vs Notre Dame - McGraw has done a great coaching job this year

Mississippi State vs South Carolina

Both games are on ESPN 2

Louisville won by 2. Would love to have a player that moves constantly and rebounds like Shepherd.

At the coaches meet at the end of the game, the Louisville coach made a comment to McGraw and McGraw was like ‘what’ . I would like to know what was said and so did the announcers.

Evidently, it was in response to a ND comment not giving Durr the credit Walz thought she deserved.
He supposedly responded with something like "you know who she is now".

"I wanted to make sure she knew who Asia Durr was," Walz said. "The comment that she felt Arike should be player of the year because she had more rebounds, more assists, is fine. But at least rather than saying, 'The other player that won,' just have the common courtesy to say her name. So, I just wanted to make sure she knew who Asia was. I don't think there's anything wrong with that."

He knew she knew who Asia Durr was. It was the wrong time and place to do what he did... but not at all surprising that he did it.

Jeff Walz is a giant prick. That being said McGraw has played this BS act before when Brianna Stewart won the POY in 2014. You don't say "that other player". When you hear someone say a phrase like "that other player", "you know who", "person shall remain nameless" it is always done with a hint of smart@ss. Perhaps the timing was wrong, but she was rightly called out for her passive aggressive non sense.

I watched some of the Oregon game liked the coaching staff dressed in all black except the green sneakers.

Who do you like in the Baylor Texas game tonight? Should be a good one.

I wonder if UCONN will win by 40 tonight.

Jeff Walz is doing what many would call starting a rivalry. Lord knows this sport needs a few more. I like it.
