Not Impressed

The fact that three of the tightends caught passes and only one of them is really a tightend is impressive. Big Ben went out there and played the game! To question the play calling at this point in the season is suspect. What experience at play calling do you bring to the table?

They are not way better than Vandy. I hate Vandy but Vandy is a touchdown better team than NCSU.

I have to disagree. USCe was playing in the rain and lost 1st string QB for a while. 1st game of season for both. USCe will get better while I see Vandy sliding towards their normal mode of operation.

McKayla wasn't impressed with the thread.

ummm compare the team that played against kentucky in the season finale and the one last night...impressive

Our play calling is suspect. The real match up was our running backs (or tight ends) against the NC State linebackers; we failed to exploit this advantage. We should have beat this team by 3 touchdowns.

Initially, I thought that we would have 10 wins this season; now, I say that we will be lucky to win 8.

We have the players, we just don't have the ability to exploit opportunities...and that is coaching.

Have you ever had a good day?

How can you not be impressed?

Y'all looked pretty good (if not VERY good) at all positions. Your QB is a stud, and your WRs are second to none. Sure, you could have run the ball a little more, but why?

Have a good season, VolNation.

We get it OP. You're a "Johnny Tough Nuts" who was the greatest soldier this country has ever known and you are disappointed that the '98 Vols weren't on the field whippin' hoes like the good ol' days. Go back to playing Call of Duty online and shining up your new rifle to go gopher hunting and leave the football talk to people who live in the real world.

I will never be embarrassed about military service.

You must have sat your rear end in a class room; letting mommy and daddy pay the way (I would be embarrassed about that). You gave yourself away. You need a haircut.

First, no Platoon Commander I have known would act this way on a internet forum. Second, it was a great game so just enjoy the victory.

Cheers Packademic, NC State has always been one of my favorite ACC teams so I really hope you guys run the table in conference play. Saw lots of sportsmanship last night with players patting an opposing player's helmet after making a good play. Great event Chic-Fil-A has going on down there.

Served 8 years in the Army myself and no way would I pull the "I served in the military what did you do" kind of thing. Thought they played great and yes it wasn't perfect, but I have a better feeling for the season after watching the game.

Hell yes I did. When someone attempts to check my Man card, I tend to do that. Did you serve?
Get some.
Tell me about it.

I don't think it was your "man" card it was your "fan" card being called suspect...and your opinion is certainly your own to have, but I think most of us want to relish in the victory, recognize our short comings and the ability to make adjustments; appreciate our stellar performances, of which we did have at times, and be realistic in the knowledge this was a getting the rust off, first game performance and have confidence going forward.

I appreciate your service but it isn't relevant to the topic at hand.

I just love that!

The score very well could have been more lopsided. JH dropped more passes than I've seen him drop total in his career prior to tonight. The 3 most notable ones would have pushed Bray toward 400. One would have put UT in the red zone.

If the safety fumble bounces just a little different, there's 7.

If Bray hangs on or finds a better seam, there's 7.

If the ball doesn't bounce right out of Glennon's hand to one of his OL's, there's 7 more. It could have very easily have been 47-14.

But the other side of that is that UT had some bad things go against them and didn't fold like they did at times last year.

There's also the possibility that the wound of losing DR is still closing. He was a big part of fall practice. You can't just compensate in one week after losing that kind of player. I think that bodes well for them getting even better going forward.

I agree totally. My point isn't in any way shape or form negative about UT. I went to the Vandy/USC game and was at last nights game. Seeing both teams in person I think Vandy is a little better. The experts were way off on NCSU and UT. Some on here just have a tough time reading.

I'm not saying Vandy is a great team. After seeing them both I think Vandy is slightly better than NCSU.

You are the worst example of total fan ignorance. The epitome of a Negavol. Your points aren't even worth arguing because you don't make any.

That was a good win. There are obvious opportunities for improvement. But to not be impressed with a team that was last seen losing to UK and last night was rolling all over a decent NCSU team is just plain dumb.

You're an idiot dude. It was the first game of the season. We smoked their ass. Their senior qb who everybody was raving about was picked off 4 x's by us, and our passing game put up 330+ yds without our best/most proven receiver against their vaunted secondary. You dont know **** about football obviously. You wrote that post thinking you sounded analytical and you sounded like a total dumbass.

I think NC State would have beaten Vandy hands down. J. Rodgers still makes bad decisions throwing the ball and I think as the season goes on Vandy will get worse. Jmo.
