not taking Vandy seriously

I hate Vandy, But i'm afraid many will be heart broke at how easy Vandy handles our Vols!

I am afraid I agree with you. I haven't seen any consistency with this team. Sometimes we get too technical, it seems like we just can't get off blocks or make sound blocks at the next level. I hope the 2 weeks helps our coaches get back to fundamentals and they create an exceptional game plan.

we must, must show something on the field that Vandy hasn't seen all week to prepare for .I'm talking Defense!!

That had better not be the case. We know the team is capable of playing well, although not lately. Beating Vandy is part of CBJ's first year goal of getting to a bowl. If we lose to Vandy, the coaching staff have not met their stated goal and their stock will plummet...big time.

To be fair, it's very hard to take Candy seriously. I mean look at em. Hell, if I were Butch I would probably give the team the week off.

You know...that might not be a bad idea, considering how well the tough scrimmages prepared them for AU. Just let them relax for a while.

This defense gave up 444 yards Rushing which is a lot and broke a record set in the 1997 Orange Bowl of 409 set by Nebraska against a really good defense. Some how I don't think Vandy does either of these. I think this team beats them really bad after last years game.

I agree 100%. Not only will their stock plummet, but our 2014 recruiting class will as well. CBJ needs to show us his leadership skills and get this team motivated to beat Vandy. There is NO WAY anyone can use the excuse that we don't have the talent vs Vandy. It takes "will power" and "effort" on every single play to win SEC games.

I acknowledge that they could beat us, but I sure as hell don't take them seriously[/QUOTE

This is what's up right here. I don't take Vanderbilt seriously because before I knew what it meant to be a Tennessee Vol, Johnny Majors, Reggie White, and Willie Gault showed us that Vanderbilt is not to be taken seriously. I was educated about football as men like Heath Shuler, Marcus Nash, Joey Kent, Jay Graham, Peyton Manning, Peerless Price, Al Wilson, John Henderson, Deon Grant, Tee Martin, Will Overstreet, Phil Fulmer with Cut and the Chief, along with many others were showing me that Vanderbilt is not to be taken seriously. If every football game for the rest of my life ends with Vanderbilt having scored more points than UT, I will still not take Vanderbilt seriously because they are Vanderbilt, and I am from Tennessee. I don't take Vanderbilt seriously because they say, "Anchordown," and they like it. I don't take Vanderbilt seriously because their coach is an idiot. I don't take Vanderbilt seriously because they gang raped an unconscious girl. Print this and hang it in the locker room Franklin. We are Tennessee, and you are Vanderbilt. We are superior in every way, and we will never take Vanderbilt seriously.
THIS +1,000,000!!!!!

has already beaten some SEC teams that are better than us and have proved it because those teams beat us.

Just because they beat a team that we lost to means nothing. We're talking about football not car raceing,
week to week no team is the same.

Vandy didn't beat Florida, Florida beat themselves... The only way we lose to Vandy...Wait if we lose to Vandy then we should've never fired Doolander because we didn't overachieve or underachieve, we stayed the same losing course.

If we stay the same record without bray, Patterson, and hunter then I still mark that as a success. We have no playmakers...

You're absolutely correct. Also the transitive property doesn't work in CF.

Uh, maybe Willie & Co. from 1982 should've taken Vandy a bit more serious.

Not one bit of Tennessee's history will matter in two weeks. Not General Neyland, Not Johnny Majors, Not Phil.

The only thing that matters is this Vols squad.

Our uninformed hill folk fans taking about how we have 300 more wins than Vandy make me sick.

History means less today in college football than it ever has. Vandy will not be intimidated. Vandy will not be scared. Those days are long gone.

If CBJ cannot get the boys ready to play, Vandy will win again and the excuses will be flying in.

Great post!

I've often said on here that history is only important if your present situation sucks.

This is straight up uninformed hill folk trash. Full of backwoods logic and ignorance. Any fan that feels like you clearly needs to figure out that life is more than a football game. Somehow I'm sure there has been a rape or two on the hill. That's the last thing a UT fan should throw stones over.

Edit: Hill Folk, not hillbilly. Sorry, Next of Kin family.

How do you not take a Vandy team seriously who has beaten Fla and Ga in the same year?
I know they're 5-4, but still they hung 34 on Fla (who was supposed to have - at one point - one of the best defenses in the country).

But as posted elsewhere, 24 of vandy's points, 3 TDs and 1 FG, came on drives that started at the Fla 22 or closer thanks to 3 ints and a fumble from Florida. Give them credit for cashing in, but the offense didn't even gain 200 yards...Florida gave the game away.

Also, vandy is only 86th in the country running the ball and starting their backup QB after an injury.

We match up very well with them.

This is the most pathetic thing I've read in a long time! If UT is truly trying to figure out HOW to match up with Vandy, it's time blow the f**ker up and start from scratch.
