Notice of Allegations Released!

THE UGLY:

In reading through the letter there are two things that jump out. The first is the fact that Pearl and Tony Jones committed a recruiting violation after Tennessee announced their self-imposed penalties back on September 10th. That's inexcusable.

-Brent Hubbs

So Pearl cried at a press conference, said he learned his lesson blah, blah, blah and then a few weeks later committed another violation.

That's the damning part I think. There's no reason he should survive that.

Weeks? Try days.

The lying and this one really are just eating at me to no end.

That's just stupid. It's not my fault your ego is hurt because you had no clue that that was even being investigated.

I'm sitting here laughing at you, I think your ego is the one bruised a bit as evidenced by your responses. So I think it's fair to say by now that you have nothing additional to backup those claims, got it.

Center of the investigation.....

but is that one not the bump rule? If that's truly a major then no one will ever be safe

Yes,

But, IMO, I don't think that one was more of a deliberate attempt as it was just awful whereabouts of where he was. Probably a time he should have been overly careful in what he was doing and wasn't.

I think it's the fact that he still committed a violation after the press conference, which creates the perception to the NCAA that Pearl really doesn't give a rat's arse.

If that doesn't prove what a phony he is, I don't know what does.

Please watch your step on your way down from your high horse! Let me throw a hypothetical out for you. Suppose u are traveling down I40 slightly exceding the speedlimit and ur buddy shoots u a text and u respond with a quick reply of ok. Nothing big right. Well the police officer notices u doing this and pulls u over. When he comes to the window he says u were speeding and notices ur cell in ur lap and asks the question if u were texting(knowing full well u were)? How do u respond?

I see what you are saying....but the reason I'm thinking he needs to go is the systemic aspects that I note from reading the letter, not only the specific problem of lying. I'm more of a football fan then basketball, and I don't have a lot of emotion about this issue. It's ok with me if Pearl stays if that's whats decided. I think his effectiveness as a coach and recruiter is diminished and his chance for success in the future isn't good. Think about it, if you were a top recruit or parent, would you want to join into this mess in the foreseeable future.

UT is much better off without Kiffin and his circus. They would do fine without Pearl and Mike Hamiliton. The University represents more about integrity and pride by ridding itself of Pearl....good coach, but a liar and cheater, and Hamilton who is incompentent at best.

If and when they ever get Calipari, the same should go for them. These AD's hire these guys and roll the dice. Snakeyes Bruce

???

It doesn't at all.

He probably is a phony, but violating the bump rule sure doesn't prove anything either way.

On it's own, no.

He gets caught, has a tearful press conference says he's learned his lesson and asks for forgiveness and then a week later commits a (minor) violation.

One would think you would above and beyond to avoid any type of violation after the PC.

Being a Pearl supporter, even this bothers me.

Does anybody know for sure if CBP intentionally violated the "bump rule"? Seems like that would be some pretty handy info to have before all the grandstanding begins.

It most cases if not all, the "bump" rule is classified as a minor infraction by the NCAA. They tagged Pearl with a major allegation for it. You be the judge.

He cried about the lying and being an idiot in the face of an investigation.

If he lied to the NCAA again a week later, that would prove he was a giant phony.

But the bump rule? Nah.

It definitely wasn't wise. The part that gets me is that they basically slapped Hamilton in the face by doing it.

That's Hamilton's out, imo. I'd can him in a heartbeat after another major violation after the fake crying display.

As much as I hate to say it, I would too. Hamilton has to show he is in charge and that he won't tolerate stuff like that.

P.S.

I just hope a new coach wears the orange blazer so I can change my avatar and not have to change my name. Haha.

It really is a shame. But, that move was a slap in the face of the University who apparently was trying to support him. I don't see any scenario under which I would support keeping Pearl after that.
