'20 NV ILB Vai Kaho (San Diego State commit)

Lol I do now. And I get it. Every time. I’m interested to see you go out on a limb with an assertion. Don’t know that I’ve seen it yet. The groupthink is wicked strong here.

Exhibit A is this thread where I’m about to get roasted for suggesting Kaho isn’t up to snuff.

Imagine you and the staff looking at this guy's tape or however they have evaluated him. Then imagine the staff saying you know what, we think this guy can help our team out. You, then pull up his offers and see he doesn't have offers from big Pac 12 teams, so you say he is not up to snuff.

Does this scenario seem logical? Obviously, anyone can question recruiting strategies but using offers seems silly to me. Why do you think this player will not be successful? Is he too slow? Too small? Does he not fit the scheme?

I don't think every player you recruit has to be a superstar. Get guys that are going to work hard and help the team grow.

Too slow at too small a size. I said that earlier

I’m willing to defend everything I say to you keyboard warriors who band together and support each other like a weight watchers support forum, and squash opposing ideas like Goebbels on his period. If it winds u up so much go ahead and hit that ignore button ya Summer’s Eve value packs.

Kaho run a 4.9 according to his profile. He’s also gonna need another 15 lbs or more to play LB in the SEC. Is he gonna maintain speed when he puts on weight? Better hope so, cause that’s already slow.

I highly doubt with the resources and access through social media available today that he’s some hidden gem playing where he got no exposure. Reno is a good size city. Which means most likely nearly every PAC-12 school looked at him and passed.

It’s a cause for a pause when looking at a prospect. But hey, impressive highlight video.
Lol at using PAC 12 evaluations as your defense.

I think whoever wins Pac 12 falls short of the playoffs. Lots of dominoes could still fall, but I just don't think the conference is strong enough.

I agree but the committee seems to think a 1-loss conference champ would get it. As much as I hate them I think Bama probably deserves it. But there’s the whole qb thing there

If Bama beats Auburn without Tua, they still make a good case with only the one loss. If UGA upsets LSU in the SEC CG, good chance both LSU and UGA make it in. Ohio State still has to beat Penn State and win their conference championship. If SCAR somehow puts together a game like they did vs UGA and upset Clemson, Clemson will be out. Lots of dominoes left in play and how they fall will determine who will be the F4. I think to many assumptions are being made ATM. Games are played for a reason.

Oh, and not being a player evaluator doesn't mean I'm football illiterate. I understand the game just fine, I'm just not a film buff.

To steer it back to Kaho, I also took note of that 40 time on his 247 profile. However, in that latest article Kaho says Pruitt loves his speed and thinks he can play ILB but has the athleticism to spread out to nickel. Pretty reassuring, makes me think that 40 time isn’t an accurate representation - due to a bad start or running form or something. As to the weight, maybe that’s where the hybrid LB/Star role comes into play as they figure out how much weight he can add. JRM came in at 200lbs, Maggitt at 215...he’ll gain weight and speed under our S&C.

I can’t fault @benholt06 or others who want to question the ranking. This kids older brother was the #1 rated ILB two cycles ago, so it’s unlikely the ranking is because of not camping or lack of exposure or any other “usual” reasons.

And I actually agree with @benholt06 that the lack of pac 12 offers is somewhat noteworthy.

Still... I stand by my earlier comment: if this staff is pushing for him, then I’m sold. If Nieds is on the case, we really want him. I hope we get him.

OL/WR/RB etc I’m a little less confident in assessments, but I don’t question this staffs ability to identify defensive talent.

In closing....

Lol..dig your thong out of your crack.

No but I do have a background in football. I’ve said repeatedly these coaches know a ton more than I do. But that doesn’t mean I won’t ask questions. Folks here don’t like questions
Folks here don't like passive aggressive little turdheads that crap all over committs. I have seen every guy in here including me have "questions" about players before, but that is not what you did. Anyways..I'm done with you..carry on.

Agreed..They do recruit situational players too, which is something a lot of people miss. Obviously they see something in this kid that others have missed, something they think can help.

It would be kinda fun to track all the under-the-radar players we've targeted since Pruitt got here... star rating changes, offer list after our offer, where they go, what kind of stats they produce over the years...

We have the Whitehaven trio and Henry T. by some miracle we get Sewell, Smalls, this guy and possibly Whitehead’ plus we have Peterson and Crouch waiting. Are we in danger of losing some of the recruits because we would have too many good recruits At LB ?

I thought about that. Would luv it, but not confident that we get Sewell or Smalls. There are 4 linebacker positions. Excluding walk-ones, we have Bituli, Taylor, To’oTo’o, Bennett, Johnson, Crouch, Peterson, Harrison, Page, Allen. Two of our best are gone after this season. After that, To’oTo’o is our only premiere, SEC proven ‘backer.

A few others have shown some promise. IMO, we need at least 5 quality linebackers who can come in and provide immediate help at the 4 positions.

What happens in the SEC will shape the playoffs, as will whatever happens in Ohio State's remaining games.
The OSU-PennS game will deide who goes form the Big 10. LSU- UGa winner will go. If Clemson wins out, they will go. That leaves 1 from the Pac 10-12 or 1 from the Big 12. I have no way to pick which team fills the 4th spot.
