Barack Obama in 1996: Gay marriage should be legal.

Barack Obama in 2004: Gay marriage should not be legal.

Barack Obama in 2010: I don't know if gay marriage should be legal or not.

Barack Obama in 2012: Gay marriage should be legal.

They both can.

I think it is a question of the motives behind changing their mind and if they really have.

In the end, I don't think either candidate, deep down, really give a rat's behind about the issue. They are just saying what they think is most beneficial to their political futures.

Yes, I just find the fact that he supported gay marriage, then opposed it, and now supports it again to be a political flip-flop of the kind Mitt Romney is often accused of.

Frankly I think Obama has consistently supported gay marriage for a while, he was just afraid to say it when it wasn't politically tenable.

Claiming to know what others are thinking is a valuable skill, especially at carnivals.

Romney is an Obama lite on this issue.
He has said he is for civil unions and to allow gay couples to adopt.

In the 1994*Campaign vs. Ted Kennedy for U.S. Senate: Romney pledged he “will provide more effective leadership” than Kennedy on homosexual rights; endorsed by Log Cabin Republicans.

I'll just go ahead and posit that the changes are politically motivated, much like everything that comes out of his and romney's mouth

90s he had to win a liberal part of chicago, okay to support gay marriage

Mid 00s he was trying to win the whole state of illinois, opposes federal gay marriage

08 running for potus rides the fence

Basically. And now it's more politically acceptable to be for it, so he's for it.

I wish the Republicans would follow suit and drop opposition to gay marriage so it could become a non-issue. The whole debate is largely a distraction anyway.

The religious aspect of marriage is confined anyway. No one stands up and hollers about a man and a woman getting married by a judge down at the courthouse as not being what God intended.

It isn't really going to matter. You are all talking about people in states he had no chance it anyway. He isn't going to win any southern state. Only needs to win all the usually blue states and Ohio or Michigan and it's over. Polling shows he is leading in all those states as is.

Keep telling yourself that. It's a major blunder. This guy is a total armature. Between this and the "War on Women" and spiking the football, Obama is giving the election to Romney on a silver platter

Michigan is probably in the bag for O, he's leading Romney by double digits there ATM

With the way things are shaking out right now, Obama has about an 83 vote lead on Romney. Romney will likely have to win Ohio and Florida both to have a shot.
