I don't understand the god-like status some on this board give him. Its to the point that they will jump in and defend him like they are his servants or something.

My disdain for him begins when I began posting on this board, as well as any new poster who has a different opinion. Instead of just reading, Hat feels the need to make sad attempts at insulting. Its really pathetic. If he would just stick to the topic and share his views, then its cool. No Problem with me. He actually has a plethra of knowledge concerning all things NCAA Basketball. However, make a personal attack on me....that is where the problem lies. I will not back down. I actually find it quite humorous at times. Any time he feels "out-witted" he throws up his famed "Ignore function" defense/excuse.

He seems to be a classic example of what some would label Napoleon Complex. They are generally smaller in stature, receding or bald hairline, who feel the need to drive expensive or larger vehicles to assert their "manhood". They are overly-frequent visitors to local exotic dance clubs due to a lack of female presence in their own lives. In this case, they feel the need to attempt insults with "educated-vernacular" to assert their man-hood.

Again - this is just a theory, since I fortunately have never had the pleasure of meeting this individual.


BACK ON TOPIC - You actually make a good point with your first paragraph. It would have been nice to see what he could have done with the players Jerry had. Unfortunately though....he left the program and Tennessee was still the doormat.

I don't understand why those of us that agree with him are painted as his defenders. 1) Most of us can think for ourselves and 2) I have seen hat post enough commentary about basketball to understand that he knows his stuff. Starting in with that ridiculous "hat jr." nonsense is nothing more than a pathetic attempt by many to deflect arguments.

Read my post. I never stated that anyone who agrees with him is a defender. Hell...I agree with some of his posts. I certainly am not a defender. I even stated that he is knowledgeable concerning all things NCAA B-Ball.

I'm referring to the ones who "jump in the ring" any time anything remotely Anti-Hat is posted. This is VOLnation. Not HATnation.

Who is starting the "Hat Jr" nonsense? I prefer arguments to stay on topic, instead of skewing them into a topic that befits my point of view. I was responding to the post by IPOrange. Then I jumped back on topic.

I am sure it wouldn't be exceedingly difficult for me to backtrack and find posts where you accused me of being a hat follower. These defenders that you speak of don't exist. There is at least one person that will pretty much copy and paste his posts, though.

2. Insinuating that I revere him as a god because I don't go out of my way to question his basketball knowledge?


Bonus question: If you hate how "personal" he makes things, why are you even going down this personal line of discussion, given that he has you on "ignore" and hasn't even addressed your posts directly in this thread?

I have little proof of that, but I believe O'Neill can win in the tourney given time to garner the talent to do so. I don't believe the same of Pearl.

O'Neill would have won at AZ had they seen fit to make him the head coach.

1) Just because I think he is knowledgeable does not mean I agree with his point of view. I am not going to simply lay down and take what he says as the written in stone fact. I do not view O'Neill to be a good coach, or at least not as good as some make him out to be. That is my opinion. Judging by the poll results on this thread, I am not alone. However, each is entitled to his opinion. Even the poster who voted Wade Houston. :thumbsup:

2). My recent posts on this are in direct answer to your posts regarding the same thing. I simply stated my personal reason for my disdain. I never insinuated that you revere him as a god. I said some on this board do.

Bonus Answer: Basically same as answer in question 2.
Regarding the "Ignore" function - it can be used to block harrassing posters (which I am not. Not many are) or it is a tactic used by self-esteem deprived posters who do not like any to challenge them, so them choose to simply ignore the posts instead of facing it.


BACK ON TOPIC OF THE THREAD - Would whoever voted for Wade Houston or Jerry Green care to offer insight as to why? Just curious....

One has a winning record. One doesn't. Don't get me wrong. I like KO and think he is a fine coach. I just think making statements about how one will win tourney games and the other won't is a bit ridiculous when the facts don't bear that out.

Yeah, because post Houstonian UT and Northwestern are exactly the places I would use to evaluate a coach. Ask the folks at Marquette where they were when KO showed up and where they were when he left.
