We had a pretty darn good staff the 3 years with Dooley, but you guys are right, these guys are bums and chemistry is overrated...

Do you know the facts behind his "firing" from GA? I think it had a lot more do with Martinez being fired and Jancek being one of "his" coaches. Richt had to make the change or it was his head on the chopping block. Don't act like he was just a horrible coach at UGA, or did something bad to get fired.
Look at his Defensive stats a Cincy before you post useless drivel.

I attended a Cincy game where they lost, and I watched the defense give up over 200+ yds on the ground, I am not an idiot. I'm sure your not the only person on this board who follows CFB.

I also know why Jancek got fired at UGA, Jancek is NOT the best DC available.

Point is when he tells the media and fans he is hiring the "best staff in the country", I expect too see the best people in CFB hired.

I am not against this hiring either, WITH THE RIGHT STAFF, I think he could do good things here.

This argument is pointless until he makes the hire

I can't think of a more ridiculous statement that "over his head in the SEC". Why? Because Alabama runs such a complex offense? SEC offensive coordinators all are members of MESNSA and use complex mathematical coding to determine schemes? That fact is that the mid major programs are the ones that use all of the gimmicks and unconventional plays. What makes the SEC the SEC is talent, plain and simple. If the guy's that Jones brings with him can coach and scheme effectively in the MAC and Big East, than they can certainly do the same in the SEC with SEC talent. The question is can they bring in the talent? Hopefully so, we will see. For those of you that want a "BIG NAME DC", ask UCLA and USC about Norm Chow and Monte Kiffin. OR maybe we could get Charlie Weiss for OC. I mean, everyone has heard of those guys so surely we couldn't go wrong with them right?

Usually in life people stick with what they know and are familiar with when facing new challenges for support. It is not a shocking hire honestly.

If Jones and company can be bad @$$'s in each conference they compete in with like talent.....there is honestly no reason to question they can't accomplish the same things with SEC talent. That is what we need to be concerned with a now.

So you wouldn't say that Dooley was "In over his head in the SEC?" Because I would say that's exactly what he was.

Cincinnati offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian and defensive coordinator John Jancek will join Butch Jones at Tennessee. Bajakian will serve as OC. Jancek might be DC;

The Scoop

Not necessarily doubting you personally, but I have not seen one single report on a creditable news organization web site yet, about a single coach being either retained or let go. So in my logic oriented brain it is hard to believe any of these reports.

not really. You stick Dooley in at HC at Alabama and move Saban to UT, keep the same players and Alabama still beats us those 3 years. It is nearly impossible to say. Hell, we could have been a Matt Elam and a J. Clowney away from winning the SEC East this year. Dooley was not able to get the talent here needed to win. If you took Saban's coaching ability and placed it in an unknown name, could he get that talent to come to UT? Of course not. Saban's reputation is his best coaching quality at this point. Is Sunseri over his head in the SEC? Who freaking knows. He looked like a genius with the best LBs in the country at Bama, and a donkey at UT with arguably the slowest and poorest tackling D in the league. Dooley certainly had his moments with some boneheaded mistakes and questionable calls at times, but if you were a MAC or Sun Belt fan, those mistakes would have been just as stupid, 13 men on the field is 2 too many in those conferences just like in the SEC. As much as people want to say Dooley is a poor coach, there really is no way to know what a "good" coach could have done in the current UT situation. All it takes is a few bad breaks or a few years with poor or the wrong kind of talent to turn a superstar coach in to the bum of the week (just ask Rich Rodriquez, Phil Fulmer, Bobby Bowden, Gene Chizik, etc).

I dont mind Cincy's OC following CBJ one bit. He needs to hire a big time DC though. make a big splash with the fans.

No, he needs to hire the DC that he thinks he can work with and that he thinks can help him be successful. Our fan base has proven that we are the biggest bunch of idiots ever collected for a common cause. There is no big splash that we would agree on. If Jesus was hired tomorrow, half of our fan base would suddenly become agnostic and many would say the game passed Jesus by after 500 AD and he was only ever successful if the Middle East, not ready for big time SEC ball.

Well it is either new assistant coaches for CBJ to mesh with, new assistant coaches for the players to mesh with or a combination of both. According to rumours, it is the second option.

I think we got hosed. I hope the local media ask Jones to justify his claim regarding the best staff in the nation. Lying to the fans? Not off to a good start.

John Jancek is the current defensive coordinator for Cincinnati. He has coached with Butch Jones for a total of five years at Central Michigan and Cincinnati.

Jancek has been the defensive coordinator for the Bearcats since 2010 and recruiting coordinator since 2011. He inherited a defense ranked 44th nationally in scoring and turned it into the 20th-ranked defense in two years and 12th-ranked defense in three years.

has SEC experience and ties to recruiting in the region.
