Official 2014 FIFA World Cup Thread

Korea looks like they got a bunch of idiots out there and Russia looks like they're trying to figure out why this is a ball and not a puck.

Worst match of the day.

Not World Cup, but I felt like I had to leave it somewhere.

I'm picking Chile today for the "upset". Late game might be good too. Not sure what I think about the first match of the day though.

Aussies v Netherlands - 11
Spain v Chile - 2:30
Cameroon v Croatia - 5

Poor Australia is all I have to say on the first game. I think both Spain-Chile and Cameroon-Croatia will be excellent games. This WC has not disappointed thus far. The only dog of a game has been Russia-S. Korea... the rest have ranged from good to exceptional!

The Russia v Korea match was the only match I actually got up from and did household chores. I still had it on, but I wasn't glued to the tv the whole time.

I thought both teams looked pretty lousy to be honest.

I don't think Australia Netherlands will be quite as lopsided as people think. I'll go

Netherlands 2-0 Australia
Chile 1-2 Spain
Croatia 2-0 Cameroon

What a world class strike by Cahill. Another player I've had the good fortune to watch in person.

I don't care how they get it done, but the Dutch appear to me to be nothing but a big ole' fat goal scoring machine. They could very well finish the qualifying round with at least 11 or 12 goals scored. I don't follow soccer intently, but that would have to rate among the all-time highest qualifying round performances in "goals for," right?

It makes it easy to like them. They are always offensive-minded.

Brasil and Germany each had 11 in the 2002 WC group stage. But of course, a single 8-0 against Saudi Arabia helped a lot. :whistling:
