Wonder what Josh Peterson likes less, these unis or having to play a position in the field?

Josh Peterson is getting the start for the Gastonia Grizzlies in their Home opener.

Peterson goes: 5 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 SO, 1 WP, 1 HR

0-2 at the plate...

Defense wasn't very good, he had no offense, leaving the game trailing 4-0

Not a great outing for Peterson, long way to go though.

Josh usually has done pretty good with Gastonia. Been a little concerned about him of late, hopefully turns it around next start.

Thanks for the heads up, I didn't realize he'd been there before, had a 2.15 ERA there last year.

Why the concern?

I hope Bettencourt isn't still hurt. Today was the first game Peterson pitched in for a long time. I'd be concerned if it was the end, not in the beginning. Summer is for development, not winning.

That's one of the reasons I enjoy it so much. I'm not rooting for a team, though I will pick one to root whole heartedly for, I'm rooting for the individual players without worry of a post season, or a "bad" loss...in some ways it's much more enjoyable.

It's why I stay tuned. It's like watching kids grow up. Development is always fun to watch. We have some great kids on our team. I want them to be successful.

I'm with ya! Last year Maddox and Smart made it to the Cape. Maddox only played a few games before his stint with Team USA. Smart went as a "Temp" and because he could play several positions, he ended up sticking.

I'm stoked we have this many guys that have a chance to show their stuff in front of some big time scouts, it's awesome. If it's solid on my part.

Our guys will impress scouts. We have some very talented individuals. Scouts are everywhere though. I just hope we see improvement. It would help our team

That's true...but the pitching in the Cape, at least last year...coupled with the bats...

Just from VU this year, Carson Fulmer, Tyler Ferguson, Hayden Stone and Walker Buehler ...all in the Cape...Vjax is gonna have to rise to the occasion, lol.

Crazy. It's great that he's facing the best competition. It will get him a lot better. Vjax will get better.

Sure, it won't hurt him any...Smart suffered through it last summer and it most certainly helped him at the plate.

I hope it helps Houser in the same way. He was not good at the plate last year. Amazing behind the plate, but he has a timing problem.

It's funny that you mention Houser. I was hoping that he would go to Matsu in the ABL because Coach Ben Taylor and staff really helped Michael Thomas (UK catcher) be more consistent at the plate last summer and it carried over.

Nothing bad, just heard some things around here that he might not be as focused on baseball as he usually is or should be.
