Josh Peterson: 3 IP, 9 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 2 SO...one of the hits he gave up was a 2 out, 1-2 count, 3 run homer...lead off man singled on in each inning...not a good outing for Peterson.

Eric Freeman: .2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 SO...came on with 2 on 1 out and forced a dbl play...coincidentally he's on the same team with Jordan Sheffield who picked up the "L" tonight.

Eric Martin came on in the 8th for the Bethesda Big Train: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 SO...a ground out to 3B, a fly out and a K.

Thanks for the summer updates. I've heard Peterson has left the program on his own account. To bad because he had some potential but it looks like he isn't performing in summer. I've seen him since HS and has always had potential but never could get it together consistently.

This sucks! I really liked the kids stuff. It's truly a shame.

He had a pretty good year this year. I hope he hasn't left the program but if so, I wish him luck and hope the best for him going forward.

I learned last year that you can't put too much stock into what happens in summer ball. Andy Cox had a miserable run with the Saratoga Brigade last summer, after a mediocre freshman season and to top off his stay in the NECCL, he got mono and had to come home early. Price basically "no showed" for Columbia. After a really mediocre showing for the Cincinnati Steam, I was wondering what the coaching staff saw in JYB.

On the flip side a guy like Matt Esparza has a good summer, definite signs of improvement, and he ends up off the roster or Simcox leads the ABL in hits and has a sophomore slump.

The Vanderford thing is a bit unusual and it makes me wonder what his status is...I think we have about 9 or 10 guys not doing summer ball, which seems pretty high, but mostly explainable.

EDIT: Just went back and checked the release and Vanderford is on it, I must have missed it I guess...Grotz is not listed, however, but is on the Menlo Park Legends roster...

Muskrats Drop Home Opener to Vermont

Jordan Sheffield (Vanderbilt) made the start on the mound for Laconia. Sheffield pitched 6 innings, striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs (neither earned). He made quick work of the Mountaineers and was relieved after facing 23 batters.

The Muskrats pitching staff made up of Sheffield, Adam Frank, Shea Spitzbarth, Jason Carmichael, and Eric Freeman gave up a combined total of 7 hits, 3 earned runs, walking five, and eight strikeouts. The loss was charged to Jordan Sheffield, while the win was credited to Ryan Davis, his counterpart.

Stanford showing the fight 5-3 now down by 2.
Bottom of third not going to be a dull game it appears for game 3.

Routine play to first but ball pops up run scores, ball thrown to home but runner slides on safe.

Texas tech if I recall right never made it to the cws so there's a team I'll be cheering for if they make it.

I thought PWorm was playing summer ball. Any reason why he's not?

He was on the SLO Blues roster, but he wasn't listed in the UT release. My guess is that he and Maddox were given the summer off.

Our guys are doing very impressive. Freemans era is very misleading..111 batting average is very good. I'm happy about our guys so far.

I thought this was really interesting. From the commissioner of the Cape Cod League...

The results of the first round were staggering. There were 34 picks. Of those 34, 16 were graduating high school seniors who are not eligible just yet to play in the CCBL. The remaining 18 players selected were all college players. Of those 18 college players, 13 played right here on Cape Cod, and the other 5 were all part of CCBL rosters but were selected to play for Team USA and took advantage of that unique opportunity. So all 18 college players chosen in the first round had some sort of tie to Cape Cod.

We have six players in the Cape, up from just two, Smart and Maddox, last year. Smart went as a "temp" but earned his way and stayed the whole summer. Maddox only played a couple of games before moving on to Team USA.

The league starts play on Wednesday, June 11.

Kyle Serrano has pitched 3 innings and walked 3 and hit 2. Consistent control is the only thing holding him back. He has great "stuff", you just hope he will eventually learn to trust it.

I actually watched the game last night, he settled down in the 3rd, guess they are on a pitch count/staff day type deal as the first few games are pre-season games.

Still, the first two innings were not good. He walked the lead off man in the first, then hit the next batter...he got out of that one, but in the second he gave up a lead off single, hit the next batter, walked the next one so bases loaded, gives up a single and a run, then walks in the next run...he then would get a double play and a K to end the inning, but it could have been worse.

He was missing badly in the first two innings, wayyyy off the plate at times.

The Miners ended up storming back in the top of the ninth to win 6-3, Senzel had a decent game, JRog made a couple nice plays in the field.

Anchorage Bucs | The Anchorage Bucs take out the Anchorage Glacier Pilots with help from Youngblood, 1-0 | Pointstreak Sites

Jonathan Youngblood went 1-2 as the Anchorage Bucs (1-1) took home a 1-0 victory over the Anchorage Glacier Pilots (1-1) in seven innings at Mulcahy Field on Sunday.
He singled in the fifth innings.

Peter Lenstrohm brought the heat against the Anchorage Glacier Pilots during his outing. The Anchorage Glacier Pilots managed just one hit off of Lenstrohm, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his three innings of work.
