He was one of my favorites growing up but he's not right in the head now. He's shooting guns at people and throwing bricks through windshields he probably does need to stay for a while in a psych ward
Murray arguably should be undefeated. If his fight against Martinez was anywhere other than Argentina, he wins, and I thought he deserved more than a draw against Strum a few years ago.
That being said, I just don't see how he can survive the machine he'll face on the 21st. Murray tends to work in spurts and takes time to invite pressure from his opponents for periods of time, good luck with that strategy against Golovkin. On top of that, he doesn't have any real power of his own to speak of so I don't see him being able to even back Gennady off at all. Again, good luck if that's the case.
Hope it's competitive but I think it'll be just a question of how long Murray can last and how much punishment he feels like taking.
I think Canello is a possibility (hopefully) but I can't see Cotto getting into a ring with GGG at this point in his career. Unfortunately, on the business side of the equation, I just don't think he brings enough to the table to entice Cotto into the ring for that type of risk.
Lomanchenko looks really, really good. His amateur record was absolutely ridiculous but it's been really impressive how quickly he's adapted to pro fighting. Unfortunately I think I read that there will be one more "tune up" type fight for him but I am looking forward to when he ends up in the ring with either Walters or Rigondeaux.
I'm by no means trying to count Walters out of that hypothetical round robin because he's a damn good fighter in his own right, but I've read more than a few people who think that Lomanchenko and Rigo are two of the most complete fighters out there right now.
Rigo is a top 3 lb 4 lb guy easy. He has too many tools. Especially his defense.
I've seen take a couple fights off tho and I don't like that.
Walters definitely made me a believer after murdering Nonito.
I think both of those guys are on last legs but Nonito was the second future HOFer that Walters murdered last year. It probably should have already been stopped 15 seconds prior but the second knockdown of Vic D was absolutely brutal.
Looks like it's a done deal. I can't do much but yawn, it's a cash grab at this point, doesn't affect the landscape at all. That said, I hope Floyd beats him like a drum.
I have no real love for Manny and definitely never called myself a fan but I could never root for Floyd against anyone. I'll probably talk myself into it by the time it/if it comes around but, at this point, I'm not even sure I'd watch.
