Official Boxing thread

I have no real love for Manny and definitely never called myself a fan but I could never root for Floyd against anyone. I'll probably talk myself into it by the time it/if it comes around but, at this point, I'm not even sure I'd watch.

I wouldn't consider buying it either.

I'll believe the Pac/PBF fight being made when they are actually in the ring across from each other and jimmy lynam and Michael buffer are announcing their respective names

eff the both of them

Well said Jay, well said.

Starting to get excited about Saturday. Don't know how I missed it but I just realized yesterday that HBO has first bell is at 5:45 pm. I just assumed they'd tape delay until midnight like normal and I'd have to watch online if I wanted to see it live.

Murray was tough as nails but that got bad near the end, probably could've been stopped a little earlier. 3G is just a machine.

One of those fights where you hate to see a guy as game as Murray not be able to finish, but it was well past the point where there was any chance in hell of him winning. No sense in getting a guy hurt. GGG is a machine.

I assume he'll fight the Quillen/Lee winner next, maybe with a tin can before that, though at this point I don't see many names that aren't tin cans for him.

Yeah, unfortunately Murray just doesn't have the power to have ever hurt GGG so once he was up early, there was really only one conclusion to that fight. Was just a matter of when.

Quillin at least has a little bit of pop so that might be a little bit interesting but that's probably (definitely) being a little kind to Peter. Golovkin deserves a big money, PPV fight but I can't see anyone who'd want to give it to him. Cotto is currently the odd man out but, as I said in here earlier, he has everything to lose and almost nothing to gain in that fight so I just can't see it happening.

After this fight I wouldn't mind seeing the winner defend the Championship against WBC Jr Welterweight champion Danny Garcia who is 29-0

Danny Garcia has regressed so badly since Matthysse.

I feel like Khan was giving him a good schooling until khan's chin got involved.

Danny got a gift decision vs Herrera . He definitely lost that fight.
He may have problems wit Peterson.

GGG is a star man.
Can we get Froch to come down. He seemed real scared to do so after his last fight vs geale (I think)

Andre Ward is missing in action.

Quillen isn't worthy.
Maybe JCCjr?

Chavez is likely, and he's been running his trap that he'll KO Golovkin. I think JCC should stick to getting rich based on his name and beating up the likes of John Duddy and Peter Manfredo.

I think Froch might be the most realistic option of everyone you listed at this point but I'm not even sure if that'll happen.

Not real sure with the Ward situation but, if GGG had to step all the way up to 168, he'd be one of the few I'd favor over Gennady right now.

I have no idea, nor do I care, about the context or origin of this photo but I can never, ever see or hear the name of Manfredo without thinking of this picture.

StalloneZone, indeed.

My favorite Manfredo memory, his post fight interview was amazing

"Yes and no. Yes, because after two knockdowns in fourth round, I am in control. I see it's just easy fight for me. It's very hard for him, you know? Just, I am very slow. And he is good fighter, he is great fighter."

GGG

I think that pretty much sums it up nicely.

I was unable to watch last night. How were the fights? How was the broadcast? I'd love nothing more than boxing being on major television again (I still remember Roy Jones Jr coming out in Batman gear to the Prince song from the Michael Keaton Batman movie at noon on ABC) but I'm skeptical of it actually doing well in the ratings department.

Molina was awful. Broner won big but he doesn't have it. Why he tried to emulate Floyd's style is so ridiculous to me. He should be studying meldrick taylor film.

Thurman boxed great. Ghost was outclassed and outgunned.

Can't wait for Garcia/Peterson next month. Lee/Quillen could be entertaining too

The broadcast was difficult
Sugar Ray and Marv were so rusty and had zero chemistry.
The production needs work, the replays were bad and the timing was bad.
And they had like 42 ring correspondents lol besides the two guys calling the fight

Ugghh, this was exactly what I was worried about. It'll never succeed if they don't have consistently good fights, obviously, but a bad broadcast team and overall poor production can do almost as much to kill it.
