Official Brexit Referendum Discussion

There's talk of this being very likely.

There's a wave in the uneducated working classes, worldwide, of belief that nationalism is the answer to their problems. This is eerily similar to Nazi Germany, finding someone to blame for stagnation of wages and advancement.

Trump supporters are very susceptible to this same manipulation.

Did you ever take into account they just want their sovereignty back you jackass? Howvwould like it if a rival firm had all the say in how you run your business? Make no mistake Clyde, immigration has played a huge role in their decision, I applaud my British cousins!

Typical. Demonize those who didn't vote the way you wanted.

Look at the numbers of where the votes were coming from for Brexit. Look at where Trump votes come from. Listen to the racist language, the promotion of isolationism. Then listen to Trump.

It's the same message: the reason your life sucks is these damn immigrants and foreigners trying to undermine us.

The framework of the modern EU was hammered out soon after WWII. I understand what you mean but I think you downplay the importance of the EU in keeping the continent working together. These countries were only friendly because of the dramatic effects of WWII and they will avert back to their traditional nationalism and selfishness (yes I know these existed in the EU but not at the level of pre-EU) that could lead the world down a dangerous path of war. It worries me. I don;t blame Britain for the vote, but I also know the history.

Actually, the official framework for the EU was established in 1968 by JP Morgan with Euroclear.

I would see the EU as a good thing if they actually got items resolved. it doesn't, all its done is put a heavy lid on the issues, the pressure continues to build. I think this gradual dissolution is a better option than the collapse that would have followed a continual decline. With each country taking action you are lessening the pressure.

I don't know, but it was odd listening to him cheer the UK leaving the EU while in Scotland. I read that Scotland may vote another referendum now the Britain passed Leave.

Scotland can vote to leave and join the EU if they want to. But now the question is does the EU want Scotland, are the willing to accept the massive welfare burden that is Scotland and will there even be an EU for Scotlsnd to be apart of???

The truth is you don't know what motivated 52% of the population to vote this way. There are plenty of less educated working class people who voted to stay and plenty of well educated who voted to leave.

The nazi stuff is just ridiculous fear mongering.

On the nationalism stuff people like you demonstrate why one might not want their fate determined by someone from another country. Such arrogance

If people wanted to see what a New World Order type organization looks like it's the EU. And it has failed. The moment thousands of refugees crossed over into Europe it failed. The EU attempted to strip countries of their identities for the greater good of Europe. That's liberalism vs Realism at its worst

I'm arrogant in the sense I have no respect for the bashing of those that don't look like us for our own shortcomings.

Heres the thing with the EU - it was always a compromise approach.

There's no reason that some of the good of the EU cannot be preserved (eased travel between member countries, some trading bloc aspects, some shared intelligence/defense) without the bad (loss of some sovereignty, crushing bureaucracy, bail outs of failed economies).

I'm surprised it lasted this long.

They either needed to go to one big country with existing countries being states (our model) or a more loose confederation as suggested above. The half-way pregnant model was doomed from the beginning - not enough glue to hold it together.

One giant super-state hurts countries like the UK, having the 5th largest economy in the world, having to nurse the lesser ones...

And it's the blue collars that suffer..

Yes, I get that. It officially started in the 1960's but the actual movement to unite occurred after WWII in response to communism. 1951's Schuman Plan is largely regarded as the first step or do you wanna cite me another wikipedia article. Jesus.

it doesn't

It kinda does though because they are at least in conjunction with each other somewhat--that's a better alternative than what led to the event 100 yrs ago. Duly noted on lessening pressure, however. That's a good point.

Did you ever take into account they just want their sovereignty back you jackass?

Can someone please explain to be why he is continually allowed to do this?

My favorite part of all this I think is to see the delusional liberal idealists over at the Huffington Post losing their minds.

Honestly, I'm a bit stunned that it went the way it did..

Gladly the people of GB spoke yesterday despite the bankster/politician effort to derail it, including our own president..

another one of Obama's FP follys. not sure how he ever thought it would be a good idea to say something like that, even if they stayed it shows he is pretty darn shallow.

"you make us redo our trade paperwork? Fine we won't trade with you."

I love that you jump to the idea that anyone who disagrees with you is uneducated and reminiscent of Nazis.
