Official Brexit Referendum Discussion

Can someone explain to me what the problem is?

As I understand it, there was a referendum to exit the EU. The question now is timing and whether England gets out without a solid deal in place as to how to unwind all of their economic relationships, versus whether there is a delay to try to work on a coherent process.

Is it that people have intentionally dragged their feet on coming up with that process for withdrawal so that be pro exit people feel like they are just being dragged along? Or, is it that the pro exit forces are worried that if it goes longer then sentiment may change and they will end up staying in?

And, is this about economics or social issues such as immigration?

Almost half the people are opposed to it, so there's a large block of parliament who aren't going to help it along.

Not sure if May intentionally dragged along the process, but clearly she didn't negotiate with the EU with a sense of urgency. Burned most of the two years before she came back with an agreement. The problem with it (as with most alternatives) is the Irish border issue.

You guys sure seem to be vested in Brexit. There was a vote and the people chose to leave, but I guess that matters not to your minds, as long as it looks bad for Trump.

It has very little to do with Trump, although English nationalism is kind of a parallel to the American nationalism that he peddles.

People really don't seem to be paying attention. America First has turned out to be little more than America Alone. Britain is finding that out as well.

As far as America Alone, that is a fallacy. The only place where international relations have soured are the liberal Euro nations. In fact, our relations with Eastern Europe have never been better. Wonder what they are afraid of with their past experience?
Outsourcing your national needs to a collection of foreign bureaucrats is about the effing most stupid idea one could envision.

Even in its most innocuous form, it's not a great idea when you essentially have people from three different countries joined together in one.

That makes no sense whatsoever. Wales, Scotland and England have been politically united for hundreds of years and prospered, so they should now ceed power to an ever larger political entity consisting of many different nations and cultures.
What about America? What entity should we source our leadership to?

I've got to be honest, I don't really know what's going on over there - I'm just glad that the U.S. isn't the only government that has no idea wtf its doing.

The look you make when your own party wants a vote of no confidence against you.

The Scottish literally tried to leave the UK a couple of years ago and have stated if Brexit happened the would consider leaving and if there was a no-deal Brexit they would leave.

And let's not forget the millions of British citizens from its former colonies.

So what. The Scottish separation referendum was years before Brexit. Even if there stayed they want their independence.
